I've been interested in the similar 805 but they are also hard to find. I've owned the AFCK in the past and I think the thumb hole is not as functional as the thumb holes by that other company. This is partly because of the size of the holes that Benchmade uses, and partly because they round the edges of the holes too much. So I would like to try the 805 to see if its thumb studs are functionally better.
I wonder if the sales statistics are swayed in the same way as the thread recently that asks about combo edges being more popular than plain edges. If dealers mostly stock the more mundane models like griptilians, then those will be the models that sell and Benchmade will think that the other models are less popular. Some of my favorite models are the 730, 760 and 913, all discontinued by Benchmade. Of the models that they currently produce, I like the 581 and 890 but not any others.
