Why No GOLDEN, CO Hawkbills?

I think making a narrower blade, maybe with just the bill just at the end could help. Or using something else besides a backlock could get the blade into the handles more, be it comp, liner, button.
Hope that all came out right and made sense to everybody :)

Someone on instagram made a mockup of a fixed blade AquaHawk. It looked legit! It was an aqua salt handle with an 4+inch hawk bill blade. It seemed like a great looking dive/salt water fishing knife.

I personally wouldnt mind seeing a large spyderedged hawk shaped blade on a jumpmaster handle.

Hi JD,

As I mentioned on the "other" forum. We never thought to make one. Whaddayouwant?

Greetings Indeed Mr. Glesser  As I said on the other forum my initial idea of a premium folder Hawkbill with either G-10 or CF scales would be good for starters. Also it just makes perfect sense to also use a USA blade steel like something from Crucible or Carpenter but I sure wouldn't complain if you did one in M390

Something in the size range of the old SUPERHAWK ( but please Spyderedge this time???). Or Evil D's idea of taking the C-36 Military model and making a super version of the Spyderhawk based on the C-36 Military model.

Another brainstorm that hit me last night I was thinking how cool it would be to take the Para 2 model and make it into a Hawkbill and use Vivi's idea of a ball bearing lock. Those are just a few ideas that really stand out to me. But I also want my Spyder-Brethren to weigh in as well because I'm sure there are some great suggestions for a GOLDEN, CO made Hawkbill.

Or you could take a look at a fixed blade Hawkbill and use the handle style off the older, great TEMPERANCE 1 model. I'm sure these guys also have some great suggestions to share as well.

Maybe a Swick 5 with a longer shallow hawkbill, or one with a decreasing radius to the tip like the Superhawk we made a few years ago.

Sal, I love the Swick series, and a Swick hawkbill would be a great addition. On Instagram a custom maker made something that looked pretty close to a hawkbill Swick, and it looked fantastic. Even if it had to somehow be a folder, I think it would be great.

ParaHawk, instant sale here! In as many steels as I can get. I'd take a ManixHawk too, but I'd also love a Wharnie version in both.

Hey I love the idea of a Para2-Hawk!! You could called it a Harpy on super powerful Steroids:eek::D Some very interesting and intriguing suggestions for a GOLDEN, CO USA Earth made Hawkbill so far. As I ponder all of these great suggestions I'm now leaning toward a super rigid folder rather than a fixed blade Hawkbill. Oh don't get me wrong because I would love both but there is something really appealing about the idea of a bulky, rigid Hawkbill>> maybe with the same rigid construction as the Chinook models.

Even a super version of the Harpy would be great as well IMO.

Either one of those I would rank as a good candidate for a GOLDEN made Hawkbill. I've wanted a Superhawk or something like it in Spyderedge for a long time. Because Hawkbills just seem to have many more viable uses in SE than they do in PE.

The Swick made into a Hawkbill is intriguing because we've yet to have a fixed blade Hawkbill in the lineup. And with the success that Spyderco has had in the fixed blade sector maybe the timing would be right for a Hawkbill in that size range as well.

But a rugged, solid built version of the old SUPERHAWK ( or something similar) would also be a great Hawkbill blade to represent what the GOLDEN Spyder factory is capable of.

Riz, Is this what you were referring to?

Sal, I think this would be the ultimate boaters (pull cut) belt knife. Like a AquaHawk, with a 4+" bade.

Yep. Ide still like a spyderedged version on a jumpmaster handle!

Right on!, Yes, a fixed hawk would be a great belted water knife. Could be used for multiple purposes IMO..... Bleeder too!

A Spyderedged Hawkbill JUMPMASTER!!! Hey that just might be the ticket. I've always liked the fixed blade JUMPMASTER and a Hawkbill version would not only be super functional but would also probably even appeal to many non-hawkbill type knife users.

A Spyderedged Hawkbill JUMPMASTER would be super practical for many different types of cutting jobs. This would also be a dream come true for first responders and people in the fishing and seafaring sectors as well. It would also be ideal for a lot of hard use cutting jobs as well.

I can't find any reasons why that would not be a big success. That would be a real super model from the GOLDEN, CO plant for sure. I knew there was a valid reason I started this thread

Maybe a palm swell in the handle could cover the banana blade in the closed position. Or it could index in a way that compensated for a weird pivot location.

+1 for a serrated fixed blade.

I couldn't agree more. I do think that "dtoad's" suggestion of a fixed blade JUMPMASTER Hawkbill variant is without a doubt the very best suggestion I've heard yet. And to make it at the GOLDEN, CO USA Earth plant makes perfect sense. With the awesome leverage that the JUMPMASTER has I can just more than imagine how great of a fixed blade Hawkbill model that would be.

I just want to tell Bladeforum Brother "dtoad" that he hit that one out of the park with the bases loaded!! I've admired the awesome leverage of the JUMPMASTER for some time now and I've never even thought of it being made as a Hawkbill>> but I can't wait to see one and get to test drive one as soon as possible. This is thee Hawkbill model that the GOLDEN plant could really be proud of. It's way past due for the GOLDEN plant to make their own Hawkbill and this would be the "creme-de-le-creme" if it comes to fruition.

It was already said earlier in the thread but I’ll reiterate. Golden doesn’t have to be in all caps every time.

I'd like to see a hawkbill with a handle swell that better matches the curve of the blade for better coverage in the closed position. Kind of like the opposite of the Dragonfly hawkbill which recycled the handle from the standard model. I understand that adapting an existing design is probably more cost effective than designing from the ground up.
