Why no love for ESEE 6S (partially serrated)?

In my quest to reduce the number of knives I have, I did some sales and trades and made conclusion to have only 2 large fixed blade users. AK47 in 3V and ESEE 6S that's coming to me, and I can't wait for it.

I've been looking for some reviews and videos of the knife, but pretty much all I can find is non serrated version.

I took serrated one because:
1. I got much better deal for it
2. I always wanted a combo edge blade
3. I can sharpen serrations (have rods for that)
4. I like both, performance and looks of serrations

But I am just wondering is there a particular reason for this knife to be so much less popular that just pure plain edge version?
LostCause,

Let me ask you if you would have bought the partially serrated model in case you had found a much better deal on a plain edge model?
By the way, nothing wrong with looking for a good deal.

Depends. If the prices are the same on plain edge and serrated - then serrated.
But if plain edge was cheaper - then that.

So after getting the ESEE 6S there is my opinion of the serrations:

1. They are squared at the top, so very unlikely to break off, while still doing what serrations are made to do.
2. They aren't standard full chisel grind. You totally can sharpen them on flat stone, just deburring the parts between teeth might be slight issue.
3. They are very wide and radiused, so they won't be streess risors.
4. They aren't very deep. If you just sharpen a knife the way you'd sharpen plain edge for a while - serrations will disappear (if that's your thing)
5. Serrations being wide also means that you would probably be able to find something to sharpen them with in nature (assuming you are lazy to just toss a small sharpening rod with you, or you forgot it)

About knife itself - I'm super impressed by quality, feel, fit and finish, ergonomics... I just love the thing.

Performance - cut roll of old carpet, serrations definitely do shine there. Also, you CAN FEATHERSTICK with serrations, those do look quite interesting tho, and they catch the spark very easily, which is what matters. Just, you'll probably need a striker for ferro rod as this knife is coated (I didn't even try to use it for that, I have a striker).

All in all, I am extremely pleased by this knife 😊

Awesome man ! Glad you like that knife. I've always liked the Esse 6.
Even the plastic sheath it comes with is pretty good at doing it's job.
It's proven itself over time and time again by many , and easy to sharpen when it needs it.

No-nonsense and well rounded knife.
