I understand that it's fully in production and due to be released this year. Can we please see some more pics :)

I haven't heard it is in production yet, but they are holding off pictures because they don't want to be responsible for the drool shorting out keyboards. :D

From what I understand the release will only be PE, no CE or SE models.

I really hope they ramp up production on this one.

It's obvious this knife is going to sell like hot cakes. Josh, was this really going to be a sprint? I can't recall seeing any comments from Sal on production numbers.

What an awful picture change. :barf:

I don't remember hearing that the Manix 2 in S90V was going to only be 400 pieces, but look at what happened. I'm simply guessing it's going to be a sprint.

That may be true, but he's most definitely made them. :D

Sorry, the years haven't treated me well. And I was watching Goonies last night.

Re: The Manix2, Eric announced the 400 piece run, which was surprising, because he did it right after the Orange Mil fiasco.

As Bugs said, it's destined for "limited production" at 50-100 pieces per month.

As with all Spyderco's I would buy one when you find them at a decent price at your fave dealer.

Ooh. Sebbie can watch its back now.

Let's not get crazy. Ti and S30V does not equal Sebenza. It may be similar in materials, but a Mili is a Mili and a Seb is a Seb. Not saying the Ti Mili won't be a great knife, but what you're saying there is a mighty bold statement.

The S30V Sage II is pretty darn close to a Sebenza. IMO better due to the opening method and wire clip.

It's also right between the small and large Sebenza, and half the price. ;) I think that a RIL Military would be the ultimate incarnation of a knife (besides a rumored version with M4) at larger then a large Sebenza.

lol

That's quite a stretch.

I'll quote Sal himself on the matter:
More profit is usually associated with higher price. That's normal. Profit is usually a percentage of sales price. To think that a high priced auto should garner the same proft as a low priced auto is not in accord with business. It might be the same percentage, but being more expensive, it will be more profit.

Unless you are a manufacturer, familiar with close tolerance manufacturing of heat treated steel & Titanium parts, you are not likely to be able to see all of the differences between one of Chris' knives and others. For example; CRK keeps 0.0005 tolerance on surface grinding. That's one sixth the thickness of a hair. Do you have the knowledsge and equipment to discover that tolerance?

In the end, it's all about trust. CRK took many years to build and maintain their repuation. Built with consistent focus. Even those trying to make a "cheaper" version must "leave out processes" or "soften their tolerance", or they will cost as much.

Rarely do you pay for the "name". That's a bullshit sales pitch made up by the ignorant claiming to offer the same for less. Money valuation between countries might offer a "deal" for a while until the money value balances, but all in all, you will get what you pay for.

Just because you can't see the difference doesn't mean it isn't there, it just means you can't see it.

The pivot bushing, the ease of dis-assembly and reassembly, the level of polish, the rate of part wear and tear. The little things really add up on a Sebenza, and for those who know what they are looking at, there are few folders that compare, handmades included.

The lock doesn't compare though, it's way flimsier than the Sebenza. For $170 though it's excellent, probably the best value in that class. A Military framelock is going to be amazing.

I agree that the Sage II is an amazing knife. Is it on par with the Sebenza? IMHO the answer is no. It is a fabulous knife for introducing people to the features and advantages of the RIL framelock, but alas it is not a Sebenza no matter what anyone thinks.

I dig Ti. I dig the RIL. I have many framelock folders made by all different companies and makers. I will definitely be owning a Ti Military. The Sebenza will always be in my pocket though.

Tony--- I once said the same thing about the Sebenza. And... it's not in my pocket. It's a knife-thang! :D

As far as I know all of the sebenza`s have a major fault and its called the warranty department. I have read many reports of people sending the knife back to get it fixed under the warranty and they end up being told that the knife was used with excessive force and the warranty did not cover it... To make matters worse the charge for getting it fixed is alot... Maybe the reports were just made by haters or dissatisfied customers, I cant say for sure...

Could you link us to these reports please? I'd like to read them.

Yeah, CRK is stellar, top notch and has great customer service. My FIRST HAND dealings with them were above reproach. All the rest is hearsay and innuendo. Tread lightly.

Way to post unsubstantiated conjecture.

I've had to send knives back to CRK that weren't covered by warranty anymore due to post production work being done on the knives and I've yet to run into a problem. If CRK charges you for work it's no big surprise. You can check their price list on their website and know exactly what you will be paying. Warranty usually covers any issues due to manufacturer's mistakes and malfunctions. If you're digging in the dirt with your Sebenza and chip the hell out of the blade you're paying the $25 fee for them to retumble and resharpen the blade. It is what it is. The bottom line is that when you send your beat up old knife into CRK for a spa treatment you are getting back a knife that is nearly brand new again.

I can understand what you're saying here. When I say that it will stay in my pocket I really just mean that it will be a regular carry. I do switch it up sometimes. Right now I've got an FRN ZDP Stretch II in my pocket right now. I love this steel man. Such a great knife and it feels so good in the hand.
