Why no rift love?

I just got a rift from a forum member and already love it. Skinnier than the grip but nearly as light, not as wide as the domino, basically great for edc. I see lots of people with the grips, co ethos, and Osborne but not many at all talking about the rift.

I haven't looked into it much yet but can anybody recommend a good custom scale set for it?

Keyman does some very nice scales and he's familiar with working on AXIS locks. The Rift is a great knife. I have two of them. But it's been out for a while and whatever can be said about it, has been said. Search for old threads by FLAMTNBKR. He was a Rift-a-holic a while back.

It is a great medium sized folder. Excellent blade-to-handle ratio, really excels at slicing and has a tough tip as well.

With scales like these, why go custom?

The Rift is one of my favorite knives. I carried one for years and it's a great knife. I especially love the blade design and tough as nails for sure.

I generally prefer a slightly larger blade & handle and when the Contego came out kinda put the Rift aside but still think it a great knife indeed.

There's some threads on it, just not in a while. Congrats on picking one up!

My wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told her (and sent her a link) I wanted the Rift with the grey/black scales with the plain black blade. I have been drooling over it for months. NOW I'm seeing the Contgo and wondering it I should have went in that direction. It only a few bucks more.
How many of you have both and which do you recommend for edc. I have no issue with a big and heavy knife.

I've owned a couple of the regular 950-1 models in black, but the keeper for me is the 950-1201 Forum knife.

For me it would be the Contego all the way, like I said think the Rift a great knife and carried one for years but the Contego is that much more to my liking.

+1

If you don't mind a bigger blade,810...all day. Carries easier than you might think, and M4 is my favorite, BM does it very well.

Used to be my favorite, and I still like it a lot, but tend to carry a little bit smaller EDC these days. Still gets weekend carry time, though.

Had a Rift, loved the blade but didn't care for the handle shape very much. Also, I thought it could have benefited from some jimping on the spine.

love love love the rift. i dream of it getting the s90v treatment like the 940-1...

I like my Rift a lot. I think the blade gives a good long surface and the grind is both easy to keep sharp and will stay sharp under realistic conditions.
I like the Contego better as I like a large knife for my hands, but it is illegal here as the blade is too long and the size can be a problem as an EDC.
Rift is a great knife, Enjoy.

Ive been knid of a steel snob lately, and M4 is my favorite. Ive had an old 735 w/ 154CM, back in my pocket for the past few weeks and forgot how much I like 154CM Do not underestimate this steel and BM does it well. The differences for practicality are nominal..kinda.. Sometimes I think we are chasing our tails a little, when it comes to steels..(I wont be giving up my M4, M2 or D2, however..)

No love..?
Somebody get Loony in here..
You rang? ;)

The Rift is probably my all-time favorite knife. I've even converted my two oldest sons to Rift users. I don't need custom scales for it either -- I just get the grey/black version and make my own colors.

Do you have the 950 or the 950-1? If you have the 950, then just get some RIT dye and take care of it yourself (Royal, Kelly Green, Denim Blue, Cherry Red):

You can also do the full treatment like in the first picture with an acid stonewash
