Why no sheath

a sheath came with my 1:300 and it was decent. my opinion is they dont because they dont have to, we will still buy them without. i dont recall (maybe i missed it) prices dropping when they discontinued sheaths.

Well said.

this has been beat like a drum.

Its so we can get the knife cheaper.

It also allows Busse to do what they do which is to make us knives.

THen you don't waste money on a sheath that you wont use or either dont like.

Most collectors never even put their knives in the sheaths, and most users dont want a typical sheath.

SHeaths are more of a prefernce than the knives themselves once you start wearing em.

No one said they did.

The price of the Straight Handle Battle Mistress was $347, e-handle, $347. that covers almost 8 years or better.

Fusion base price, $387, a little over 10% (11.52%).

Mean Street, $227. Meaner, same. Satin Jack original, $227. SJTAC, $227 IIRC. NO-e, $257. SFNO, about the same IIRC.

Sheaths were stopped instead of tacking on another $20 or $30 to cover the sheath cost plus handling, inventory taxes, etc.

I'd rather toss that difference into kydex or leather than have to pay it up front PLUS buy kydex or leather.

Hope that helps.

I bought 2 of these, and thought it would be cool if busse gave them out with teh orders. but then I realized that the are very, very, very crappy sheaths and would break the second someone pushed the knife in to hard. in fact my velcro came off after 4 unstrappings. I'm gonna have to sew it back on, and sew it back on closer because the handle isn't nearly that wide, letting it slip out in standard configuration.

thats right - I'm complaining about a 4$ sheath. busse combat doesn't really need the hassle of putting out low end sheaths (both in complaints and potential problems from broken sheaths), or the burden of having to try to make higher and higher quality sheaths due to customer demand. it makes the job of local or small time sheath makers that much easier.

You know that's probably the only complaint I have about the current system, there's no "one stop shop" and you need to wait for someone to send the sheathmakers a knife before they can make a pattern to keep in stock so you needn't send your own knife in. Would be really cool (but difficult for various reasons) to have a sheath order system where you can pick the knife and some of the more prolific busse sheathmakers in a dropdown menu. It would then send the order directly to the sheath maker (who has some final production mockups on hand for sheath forming) and you can do your order all in one go. This will likely never happen though, and I don't blame them, it would be a real nightmare on their end to implement. It WOULD be really cool if the sheathmakers could get blade forms for making their sheaths before the knives start shipping out, that way folks can get a working sheath asap when they order their knife.
