Why not Hickory for a knife handle?

I know I am resurrecting a very old topic, but when I was looking for hickory handles some time ago it was the single one that popped to me.
And I just finished hickory scales from an old axe handle for a production knife. It has hidden pins. Here it is, next to the Plumb hatchet.

Very old thread. You also posted this same post on another thread.

The use of hickory is low because it isn't particularly attractive. Also, a knife handle does not need impact strength.

I will close this thread because the subject was covered pretty well before.
