Why not much love for Urban Grey?

Very rarely do I see someone mention that they chose Urban Grey as a blade finish. Mostly it's Black, Sage, or OD. Just wondering why it's not mentioned/chosen that much?

Is the UG coating inferior in quality compared to the other coloured coatings, wears faster, chips? Is it just less liked by opinion? Or, am I just imagining the whole thing and UG sells just as much as the other colours?

it's ok and wears well, it's just last on my list with sage being first and black second.

.

I dont like the texture. Its not gritty (read manly) like the other coatings. Also I dont like the name urban... I feel like most busses were born to live free in the wilderness.

But i dont really like coatings at all.

Me thinks that Gray reminds many knife people of that gray paint that the old Becker knives used to have (companion) Also, it is too light in color and if you want that, you'll probably go to double cut. I was going to do a Ash with Black G10 mags on gray then decided to go ahead and spend the extra and get double cut and was very happy with the results.. I've got one (had) with gray, a Blue/Red G10 FFBM and after looking at it, I eventually stripped off the gray and now it is super nice looking with a bright shiney finish, "except for dimples on the upper part that are super deep" So, I agree, I think if you ask Amy which is the least chosen blade color.. Gray would probably be it... it cerntainly isn't a very tactical color.. almost white looking.
My favorite is the OD/Jungle Green, then Sage, I like Satin over Double cut, I usually don't pick a knife with black, but at the Ganza's it seems to be the default color and I have quite a few since they were all that knife was made in.... Competition blade is nice.. I wish more were made with this option.

I like it. I have a CG ash with it and a NMFBM on order.

Ditto--one of my favorites. Also have an AK47 in it with silver micarta--whole package has a very elegant, continuous silvery look to it. You have to pair just the right handle color with it for contrast or harmony.

Bright scratches won't show up on it much at all, and I like the fact that it's very smooth--not grainy like some of the others, so very little friction added on slice cuts. Next best thing to satin finish and great protection for the blade, IMHO.

How would it pair with tan/black g-10 handle you think?

tough call without seeing both the handle and the coating together in the same light...

I have a solid black G10 handled NMFBM coming with it, hoping for a stark, maximum contrast kind of look.

I personally love the urban gray...my old AK and one ASH sport the gray/tan combo and I think it is great, especially with the tan scales oiled up!

I went for the urban grey with black G10 on an NMFBM. It'll match my UG/black AK nicely.

Urban gray reminds me of an appliance.

However urban camo (on the FBM) is a different animal!!!!
