Why only the single thumb studs?

I am right handed, and it's not really a big deal, but on the small and large micarta Sebs I own, they came with single thumb studs. Why doesn't CRK offer dual thumb studs on all of their folders? When I asked my vendor, who is a great seller BTW, how much the thumb studs would cost, he quoted about 30 bucks straight from CRK! I love these Sebenzas, but 60 bucks for thumb studs seems a little ridiculous. If this is viewed as flaming by anyone at all, know that I am also looking at Mnandis with wood scales, a Mountaineer II, an Aviator, and wood scales Sebs, after I crawl out of my debt hole.

BTW, I will ultimately cave and buy dual thumb studs for both of my Sebs. I really like both, and feel like a kid with a temper tantrum. Other than the thumb studs, both knives are superb in my eyes.

Thanks.

I have heard some poeple say they have had problems with the second thumbstud snagging on the lining of the pocket. Personally, I don't see the need for a second thumbstud as I never open my knives with my left hand anyway, YMMV.

i keep my knives in my left pocket so the dual thumbstud would help which is prolly what im gonna do when i get my sebbie. that and im a leftie so yer...YMMV...

You can get any Sebenza model with dual thumblugs for an additional $35. This is directly from CRK's website.

I hate having dual thumbstuds. Thumbstuds are fine if I can't get an opening hole, but the only problem with studs is that the right thumbstud (the one a lefty would use) gets caught on the edge of my pocket. Maybe it's not noticeable on the Sebbies, but I have a Griptilian that tortures me :D

It was $30 to have a double put on, not apiece.

I don't feel the need for doubles, plus they usually snag on my pocket on the way out. But if you want them, go ahead and have them done.

I've got a double on the way, a Sm. Reg. BG42 that I got off a forum member here. I'm anxious to give it a try, I really like the single thumbstuds and I always hear of people having the doubles snag on pockets, so I'd like to see if thats true, I really never had that problem with any of my BM Grips. I generally am a fan of the singles though.

Agreed. Dualies will catch. The Sebenza is a bonified RH or LH blade and is not made to be used with the other.

All my Sebenzas have dual thumblugs, including the 2006 LE maka wood small model that I have in my pocket right now. Snagging has never been a problem.

I've got double thumblugs on my EDC sebenza. Even though I'm RH'ed, I figured that if I hurt my RH (say in a klutzy bike wreck . . .), I'd like LH opening. I don't have a snagging issue. I wonder if snagging is dependent on pocket style? I'm typically in jeans, dockers, or the like, and carry my knife clipped in the right pocket.

I ordered my 07 Limited with dual studs. I always carry in my left pocket and often open my knives with my left hand, which is why I ordered it that way. Steven

I find it pretty easy to open a right studded version with my left hand. I push against the stud with my middle fingernail which opens the blade halfway. One more nudge with the left thumb and "click" you're there. This may be difficult on a newer knife not yet broken in.

I LOVE dual thumb studs myself; as I am very ambidextrous. I will be sending in my Sebbie for duals at some point.

An added plus of the dual thumbstuds is that the relief cut out in the regular sebenza handle makes the handle more comfy, at least for me.

I agree about the double hooking on the pants pocket. I used a double and wore out a couple pair of jeans in short order. I think the single is the way to go.;)
