Why Para 2 costs less than Para 1

I was kidding. Get the Para YOU like.
Although, I have the P1 and have no desire to get the P2.

WOT?!!!

:D

The Paramilitary 2 has everything I wished the original had

Now all I want for Christmas is a Military with a compression lock :p

Just used a cheap pair of calipers to compare them and they both come up at 3.6mm...so the website appears to be (I am shocked, shocked! ;) ) incorrect for the Para 1.

Despite what the site says the knives in my hands have exactly
the same blade thickness.

I have been comparing my CPM-D2 P1 and S90V P2. I'm not sure I feel strongly either way, in terms of basic physical attributes and ergonomics. I guess the larger/more useful lanyard tube is better and flexibility to mount the clip anywhere you want is nice, and the blade:handle ratio is a little better on the P2, but I don't think I would miss the P2 if Spyderco suddenly canceled the P2 and went back to making the P1. :thumbdn:  :thumbdn:  Either/both are great knives.

For those that say the PARA1 is better, what makes it better?

1) Tip up option (4-way clip for lefty's too)
2) Removed the really annoying hump in the handle just behind the pivot
3) Longer blade.

That's why the Para 2 is better.

its cheaper because no one has them for sale, its all a mind-game :D

edit: if you know a place that is selling them for $108 please let me know.

I wonder if there are any plans for a smaller Para. I like the design, but I kind of wish the blade was a bit shorter. As it is, it's pretty close to the Military now, and that's just a bit bigger than I want to carry. Either way, it's a great looking knife, and I'm sure it will be a winner for Spyderco.

i think the delica g10 looks almost like a smaller paramilitary. at least the blade shape is almost the same, handle is close enough.

The Para 1 had a blade that was a little shorter - one of the design changes for the Para 2 as making the blade a little longer. :D I like the Para 1 but one of its few oddities (I wouldn't say faults) was a somewhat disproportionate blade:handle ratio.

I wasnt one that said the Para 1 is better...but I'll bite.

Overall the 2 has several upgrades that are great. Gotta luv the 4-way clip options and the tang reduction. Also like the larger lanyard hole and the
newer bushing and the comp lock is easier to navigate on the 2.

But...

The Para 1 has better ergos for me...noticed after handling the Para 2 awhile. The Para 2's new ergos offer a regular handle grip or a choiled grip. Neither feel quite right. The Para 1 feels perfect in regular handle grip and not bad choiled gripped. So Para 1 wins grip contest and that's a biggie for me. I also prefer the shorter blade on the Para 1 though many don't.

So much so I'm exchanging my 2 for a 1 even though I like the other upgrades on the 2.

Also...new bushing or not the Para 1's (Ive had 3) are all much smoother openers.

Personal preference...but someone mentioned when the 2's been out awhile more and more will be clamoring for the Para 1. Similiar to the Manix story.
