Why plastic?

Why do some sheaths come with Kydex and some with plastic? I want an izula but really hate the sheath. I have a ESEE 4 and the Kydex is great. So why not on all of them?
 
I think it comes down to cost. What do you hate about the Izula sheath? Especially if you don't have an izula yet?:confused: If you want, there are numerous makers (on this forum) who can fashion a custom Kydex sheath for you.
 
The Plastic Izula sheath is actually pretty nice. It can benefit from some trimming which the Izula does very well to it's own sheath but it's not absolutely necessary. At least it comes with a sheath. For what Izulas sell for, they could come without a sheath and still be a good deal IMO.
 
I wish the HEST came with the same, exact type of sheath but obviously beefed up to fit the HEST.

Don't knock it until you try it. Kydex is a thermoplastic, it's not like this is some type of off the wall sheath to look down your nose at. :D
 
I really like the Izula sheath as well. Fits a Tek-Lok nicely, can be used with paracord, it's low profile and light but very strong and has great retention.

What's not to like?
 
its also more durable than kydex in extreme temperatures. also the military prefers the plastic sheath over kydex which is another reason for them. the set up to make those plastic sheaths runs about 6000 bucks per mold, so not at all a cheap item.

How can you "hate" something like this if you have never used it? It sounds like you "hate" the idea of it. I think it's a great sheath and I wasn't too crazy about the idea of it at first, either. Like I said, I wish they had done the HEST sheath the same, exact way.

Funny you should say that. I had a woman tell me once that it wasn't that she liked me, instead she liked the idea of me.
 
The Izula sheath works good for me.Retention is solid,it's light,and fits perfect in my front pocket.There's not one thing that I don't like about it.
 
I love the Izula sheath myself. Wouldn't change a thing about it. :thumbup:
 
As long as you're not swilling Tequila and wearing your own logo'd panties, there shouldn't be anything not to like. :D
