when i was done with undergrad instead of a class ring i spend 1400 on an seamaster. some nine years later when i finished my mba i was going to continue the trend and get a new watch. at the end of the day i could fine anything else i would want to replace the omega. within last 11 years since i got the watch i have only bought two other. one with a black leather band i got for 90% off from a friend who worked at the company and another with a brown band i could wear with brown shoes.
i noticed the same is true since i got my starbenza a few years back. if you spend 100 on a knife odds are you will spend more in search of the perfect knife.
I Would love to own a sebenza, but i'm not very impressed by the cuttingtests ive seen, or the Edge retention really.
But, its not up to me to decide if the edgeretention is good or not, when i have not even tried CRK's s30v or s35vn.
And i cant justify the 625$-720$ They cost, I just cant.![]()
Where did you find them for 625-720?! I got my large carbon fiber 21 for 455$ shipped. Most of the other ones go for a bit over 350. As far as edge retention in the S35VN, i don't have any issues. It's not like you're cutting with tin foil. I've stripped wires, cut cardboard and whittled a 7' oak walking stick all in one day and it still cleanly cut news paper at the end of the day. I strop it or do a light pass on my sharpmaker fine rods every few days if i've used it a lot. The plus side to the heat treat is easy sharpening and it doesn't damage as easy. I don't need my edge to last me for weeks on end. I would give it a shot, if you don't like it, selling it at the same price you bought it for probably would get a few inquiries.
Here in Europe. :/ paid 330$ for My Zt 0560. Very expensive here, thats a big pain sometimes..
As i Said, i shouldnt talk about the Edge retention when i have no experience from it.![]()
I'm not a Guy who sell things, or atleast not knifes![]()
I Wish the knifes were so cheap here that They are over at USA. But if They were, i Would have alot more Knives now then i have, dont have that many yet. But that has to do with the pricetags.. And that i havent been in to Knives so long.![]()
Wow that is expensive. Can you have someone here buy it and ship it to you?
No i dont. And if i did, i still have to pay taxes and a few other feels, so it's going to land on the same price anyway.
This is a paid in the a..s :/ really not digging this..
Its seems not all sebenzas are created equal.
my small seb has good retention while my large isnt so great.
What a pain wish I could help! Paying that much for one knife is not worth it.
l have to pay if i want a sebenza. And i want a sebenza so..
My friend, that simple statement sums up this whole 6 page thread nicely.
Well my opinion of course, started with cheaper good knives, then gradually came to purchase 200 $ something knives, then of course bought sebenza. Then sold sebenza bought and sold lots of semi custom, custom ,production knives just trying to see what I really like.Well after few years came to the point that all I need is small sebenza insigno. Will purchase one soon and that will be it.Came to a conclusion that sebenza is the knife I really want to have and use for years to come.Cheers and good luck with your decision.Ok, So I have read a million reviews, know the Sebenza inside and out, have held over 50 different ones, have had friends tell me they love theirs, and blah blah blah. I certainly appreciate their quality, craftsmanship and all the awesomeness that comes along with a Sebenza. The thing I don't like is the price tag, For the one that I would buy, with the wood inlays (~$400), that is a big chunk o' money. By the way, I am looking at the small version. They are nice, titanium is pretty cool, but why should i Drop that sort of money on a knife? Anyone care to lend me some of their insight? I know a lot of you guys own them. I have been toiling over this for a long time. Thanks in advance![]()
