The best way to explain things is : life happens, interests change, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I still have all my Beckers. I still love all my Beckers. In my absence, I have learned how to put an unbelievable edge on a knife. I bought a Tormek T4 Bushcraft, it is the easiest way I have found to fix an uneven grind or bring a good edge to a great edge on a 1/4" thick blade.
I also picked up an IM313 with India stones and an IM313 with water stones and learned to take it even further. My wife will not even use my knives anymore, she is afraid to. So she has hers, that I don't sharpen very often and I don't make them surgical sharp when I do.
Like everything in life, it is a journey. How far down the rabbit hole you go is up to you. I still have all my knives and still buy one or 2 from time to time. I really like the BK- nessmuk style and would like to get 1 or 2.
I would also like to see a BK- Ulu. I think they are a very useful tool. Knives of Alaska makes one out of D2 tool steel that looks like it should work well. I think different sizes, like a small, medium & large size would be awesome as nobody does that as far as I know. BK&T could be the first ? That way you would have one for every size hand and preference.
We are retired now and time stops for no one. Arthritis, aches and pains and such starts to be of concern when handling razor sharp things, lol. We are not there yet but I can certainly see it coming.
I fell in love with the BK-10. It's the reason I became a Beckerhead, #103. But then I fell in love with the Brand : heavy duty hard use knife at a working persons wages. You can modify them and if you make a mistake, you can fix it or buy a new one. After all, a knife is just a tool.
I have added a choil, added jimping and stippling to the handle. I hunted deer for about 10 years and it was Beckers and Old Hickory that helped me put meat in the freezer.
Hope this helps.
