I've been noticing a lot of NIB ZT0551s for sale in the exchange recently. I'm guessing because of the new models? Any other reasons? I kinda like them.

I wouldn't read too much into it -- the same thing happens with pretty much any high-demand/pre-ordered knife that becomes available in one or more large batches instead of trickling out in small numbers. In this case, the last batch of ZT 0551s recently hit the streets, so there were a couple hundred people with new 0551s. Inevitably, some relatively small percentage of those people will decide to sell their new knife for one reason or another (didn't like it as much as expected, funding other knife purchases, flipping to make a few bucks, etc.).

I think neuron hit the nail on the head. If you like them, buy one; I've only heard excellent things about the 551's.

I would guess that every person has their own reasons. Money is tight right now, some might not use it, others want to buy another knife. You name it, that is probably a reason.

When the first 1-2 batches came out i wasn't able to buy one, so when more became available I bought 3.

I wanted to keep at least 2 0551s but I just bought 2 WDZ Custom knives. So I'll end up keeping only one 0551 although it is one the best knives under the $300 price point. Specially considering all the features it comes with for only $200.

I have debated on selling mine for some time now. I have narrowed my collection down to custom and semi custom, but really cant part with the ZT. Most of the time when I sell a knife it is to fund some other purchase. Even though I have not carried the ZT, I cant let it go. Always that thought nagging me that as soon as I sell it, I will want to start working it into the rotation. Its still gonna have a hard time pushing my CRK or Hinderer out of my pocket.

I love my 551. In fact, I know where a couple of NIB still exist @~$200 - and I want a spare!

I actually like that people buy them to resell. A lot of people miss out on these sprint runs and having the opportunity to pick them up 2nd hand (yes sometimes at an inflated price) is very good for the community.

I bought mine thinking, "it's an expensive knife, but I can always sell it later and not lose money." It turns out I liked it, and will be keeping it, but I'm sure there are other people out there who did the same thing and didn't like the knife. I know that the upcoming model will have some additional features for the same price, but I kind of like this one.

I think it was due to the recent release of another batch. I've come to realize, that a lot of guys "rent" knives if you will. They buy them just to see if they like them, and the way the knife market is they can then sell them if they aren't their cup of tea with little to no loss of money. As mentioned, I wouldn't read into it as it happens anytime a knife or run is released.

Could be that the 0550 will be coming out shortly as well. People that want the design will be able to get them in pretty regular supply soon. If somebody wanted to flip the 0551 for a bit of profit now is the time to do it, not when the standard production comes out. I guess there will always be a premium associated with the 0551 for the blade steel though.
