Why the ATC-VTAC excells

I got this hawk a few weeks ago and love it! One thing just noticed though is there are some dents (about 0.5 to 0.75 cm each with 3 of them in the same general area) on one side of the spike but the finish still covers it with no blemishes or anything which makes me think thats how it came. I'm wondering if its will affect the integrity of the steel? I haven't been able to use it much unfortunately but I'm doing some serious backpacking this summer through the Rockies and don't want it breaking on me when I need it.

The company explained to me that since they're drop forged the hawk head indentations will occur.

Yep......that's just from the forging process....nothing to be concerned about. I have numerous VTACs and I have beaten one in particular to absolute death for years now against concrete and steel and has not affected the integrity of the steel at all.

I have a post in here somewhere about breaking padlocks. I used the blade to destroy a padlock and have close up photos of the damage to the lock and blade.

A few passes with paper and mouse pad.....blade was back to new with no chips or rolls. Padlock.......broken.
