Why the Love for PM?

The question is, is it really necessary to apply loctite to the screws? This is Spyderco we're talking about, so I don't expect parts of the knife to start falling off just because I didn't glue them on.

I've never had a Spyderco screw, when properly tightened (i.e. not leaving it with rotational play), shake loose. And if you're talking clip screws, I've NEVER had an issue with those, even after catching the clip on a seatbelt and giving it a good yank. I imagine it's more a peace-of-mind issue...but YMMV.

Thanks, Friar. Clip repositioned! Finally making good use of that beautifully oversized lanyard hole...never would have thought such a simple thing would make me love my PM2 even more.

I my self have 2 paramilitary 2s. Love them. I did end up picking up a manix 2 shortly after Christmas and I must say I think I like that one just a little bit more. Nothing wrong with the pm2. I think it's the blade shape of the manix. And the added weight. If I was only allowed to have 1 it would be the manix. Weird I know.

The loc-tite is probably a good idea for people who ride a motorcycle or work with heavy equipment.

I couldn't imagine the clip screws vibrating loose from opening mail or slicing cheese :)

Its one of the most perfect fitting medium sized knives I've ever owned with a lock every bit as cool and unique as an axis lock.

Better than the Axis lock if you ask me; no omega springs to worry about. Love my Griptilian, but it's no PM2.

It may appear that way to some at a quick glance, but it is not. Look up some schematics of it.

I will, thanks. I figured there was more to the lock than that. But it does look like an upside down liner lock lol. Either way it has a superb feel to it, and it's easy to close one-handed. I'll definitely be all over that green M4 sprint.

I've actually never had an issue with the 5 benchmade I've ever owned.

But it's not about better for me. It ls more about what cool knife innovation is actually worth its salt and that an interested knife person should at least try.

For me it's a short list in this order
Spydies hole
Thumbstud
Liner lock
Frame lock
Different steels
Axis lock
Compression lock
Emerson wave
Flipper

Everything else for me could be a pass for me!

In my opinion, the PM2 is quite good looking. I have more Manix' than PM2's but I'd say I favor them the same. For a lot of people it's very much one way or the other. You either love the PM2 and hate the Manix or vice versa.

As far as why the PM2 is so "great".

It just works. Very well in fact.

My pm2 was the most expensive, well built knife I've owned; perfect centering, lockup, tension. That said, I gave it away. I liked it, but the blade to handle ratio, the lack of a straight blade portion, the dlc was a touch 'grippy' for my taste, not a huge fan of g10 from a durability standpoint, and the main reason, that annoying little choil guy that is super awkward to use, so just keeps my hand further away from the blade, which I detest.

All my opinions aside, it is a superbly built knife, with a very specific design, that appeals to many. I just realized I'd never take it over my endura, with its longer blade, smaller pocket presence, and frn.

I love spyderco. I love the pm2. I just don't love using it :)
