Why Ti for liners?

The world needs more engineers like you. Alot more.

fishbulb,

You have the right attitude. Keep that attitude and you will have a long and fulfilling career. I was teasing/chiding you because I thought you might have been one of the engineers who get out of school and know everything. These guys know there is nothing more for them to learn. They make great managers. ;) There is nothing sadder than losing a good engineer to the dark side.

We are currently living during a fantastic time for material sciences. Every few months we hear about something new. For example the latest Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM) steels. Timascus, forge & pattern welded titanium. The new participating hardening steel H1. LiquidMetal, a metal without grain that can be sharpened or cast to the molecular level. All of this was just a dream 10 years ago. We are currently testing a new metal that will be another big breakthrough. It has properties that will really blow your hair back. I’m sure someone will develop a new material or combine materials that will make a better folding knife liner. Until then you gotta love that titanium. :)
