Why Trappers over Stockmen??

I think that one could say that the trapper is the
largest selling pattern but not the most used pattern.
As pointed out by others, it is easy to make and provides
a large area for artwork and logos. Most of the trappers
sold probably don't ever get out of there Collector boxes.

Well, quite frankly, I prefer a nice whittler over both. To me, a small Trapper would be second and my reasoning is all about ergos and size. A medium Trapper seems to feel better in hand (fewer closed blades to interfere in grip) and are in general lighter than most medium stockmen making me more prone to carry it.

I choose Trappers over Stockmen because when growing up my dad had a yellow handle case trapper, I loved that knife and always asked to use it. I guess it just stuck, I like the way it looks, feels, and it brings back happy memories.

I'm not a hunter, but it would seem plausible that a small fixed blade is easier and safer for skinning, than a blade that would fold into a handle. That notion sounds pretty messy and adds extra work to keep the thing clean. That being said, I opted first for stockman and now adding trappers to the mix.
