Yes there was a thread 3 or 4 weeks ago and probably 3 or 4 weeks before that too plus I agree it's a Dead Horse. I don't like it myself but but I understand that is a private sale and sellers can do as they please. If one really wants to gage the price of a knife than you can do some research the river or Fleabay for princess and work from their. It's all about doing research but Sheeple have become so dependant on other people doing all the work for them it drives me crazy meanwhile they are standing there with a computer in their hands (Phone) connected to the vast knowledge of the Internet spending hours checking up on their Likes on Facebook. Everyone loves a good deal but like J.P. Morgan said "If you have to ask how much something costs than you can't afford it."
Night Ryder - I'm going to guess you're prolly a deleter. Why delete? I'm mean it takes extra effort above and beyond the sale. I never read a rule that said it was necessary. Why go to the trouble?
Are you embarrassed of your price?

I'm curious, what knives are you trying to research prices?

Oh, and it would behoove you to take Night Rider's advice and do a little research rather than guess, especially if you plan to poke someone.
First, he says in the very post you quoted "I don't like it myself...". Second, it would have taken you 5-25 seconds to look at his profile to see if he actually deletes prices in his sales threads. He doesn't. I know this because he has NO sales threads.

And so you don't have to look at my threads to know, I've deleted some and kept others. Can't give you a reason why.

I leave my initial asking price as well as any price cuts. I do not retroactively add any offers below the last asking price that I might have taken.

... But I also go back and edit the thread title and body to clearly state SOLD, which is another thing that more people should do.

I'm not trying to research anything at the present time. This was just a general question.

I think this is one of those chicken crossed the road scenarios. The world may never know why people delete their prices.
If you're not embarrassed with your selling price, why not leave it and maybe, just maybe, you might help a fellow, brother of steel out. What do YOU have to lose?
The brother doing the research is the one who might lose money....not you.

Umm which brother? They brother buying or the brother selling? The research of past prices is a two way street.

I posed this question earlier and no one answered. Since you started the thread, I'd like your opinion if you please.

If a knife costs $200 new, and someone sells their used one for $150 4 months* ago, am I ripping someone off if I list it today for $175 and it sells?

*Or how about from 5 years ago? 1 year 2 months ago? Just last week? Does the answer change with depending on how old the previous thread was?

No Uncle you have guessed wrong but that's ok. I have yet to buy or sell a single knife on the exchange but only because the Right knife for the price I feel comfortable with has not shown up yet or I missed out on one that did, that and the fact that I just recently reopened a PayPal account . I probably like you would like for the asking price to stay up after the sale and I don't understand why sellers feel the need to take the Asking price down at all. If privacy is so important than why not delete the entire sale thread? It sure would make it quicker for others looking to buy not having to read about the backstory of a knife just to see $old at the very end of the description:mad:. But then again I have to respect the sellers need for privacy on a ''Private Sale'' because I'm all about respect and they reserve the right to do as they please. BTW Much respect to the sellers who edit sold on the title page honestly it's a time saver . Maybe sellers/Deleters could make editing SOLD onto the title page a thing. I still like to look to see what I missed without false hopes. I hope that helps you understand me a little better Uncle Timbo and BTW I love your avatar, That cat looked like me after the super bowl game LOL.

BW - I would never use someone else's price as the price I would ask. I would need 4 or maybe 5 different sales to view prices from. Then what I paid and what the current replacement cost is.

Night Rider - I apologize to you brother. You're alright!
I'm the one who isn't for mis-judging you. :(

I'm sorry but it's my turn to beat on it awhile. Also, I know all the beating in the world isn't going to change anything. I guess I just wanted to get it out there.
I'm just saying we don't need a new saddle every time we want to beat this dead horse.

Are you embarrassed of your price?

I am not sure why you keep bringing up "are you embarrassed of your price". If you want to know the price why don't you pm the seller and the buyer and ask?

I guess I keep saying that because I can't think of any other reason why people delete their prices. They must be embarrassed.
Bird hunter, why do you delete yours?

Mods, please shut this thing down if it gets out of control.
I'm not trying to start a flaming war. I'm just wanting to know why people delete their prices after the sell is over. I think it's a fair question.

Members delete their prices because they can and want to, simple as that.

It's prolly like the kid asking the wise ol owl how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Toosie Pop....the world may never know.
