wich knife steel will be more dependable

Wow, lots of posting since i left for work.

Neither the Kabar nor the Ritter will be used for HEAVY chopping. I do take my hatchet for that. I guess i should have stated that before.

Uh, well, i already placed the order so i cant change my mind. + Even if its not the best knife choice, like a poster stated, it is limited edition and id rather have it and turn around and not use it, then to not have it and spend my time wondering if im missing out on the perfect knife.

By the way, if any of you know a good quality hatchet, let me know, im using one i got from Wal-Mart:o

Thanks for the posts tho people.

Now that really does make sense. A hatchet is a wonderful and very sensible blade.

Gransfors Bruks is very highly regarded for their classic axes and hatchets. I also hear that Fiskars makes a very good and durable hatchet.

Let us know how you like the Ritter. I am totally impressed with mine.

Bruks and Wetterling are probably the best choice if you want to use stock models. Fiskars is good but you will need to rework the edge unless the wood you cut is exceptionally soft.
