wife asks why so many knives ?

My wife keeps asking me why I have so many knives; and why I carry more than one at a time. What do you guys tell your wives and what do you say when your wife finds out you brought home a new toy. My wife does not make a big deal of it , but just rolls her eyes.
 
Mine has never complained but my stock answer has been "because I don't drink or smoke and since I got married I don't need to chase girls"
 
I ask her how many purses/pairs of shoes/outfits does she have now.

Usually ends the discussion right away. ;)
 
I told her they can never be resharpend and since I use them so much I always need new ones!! :D As for carrying soooo many, she knows I am a nut anyway so no worries there. :confused: Also I have no other really bad habbits except forgetting about spellcheck. :eek:

I tell her to "never mind, or I'll tie you to the big wooden spinning wheel in the basement and throw knives at you" for awhile.:D.:D.

Then I ask her about her many "nick-nacks" displayed throughout the house.:).

I just reply with "well why do you need more than one pair of earings? . . . . it's like man-jewelry .. a different knife for different outfits . . a different knife for different days of the week."
 
I didnt say a whole lot, but I let her get used to the idea. Then one day we were boxing up some of her of purses and it dawned on her. Now she has a small collection and is also a BCCI member Although she leans toward Gerber as her EDC.
 
I simply remind her of her father's massive knife collection, and that I wanna be more like him. She usually buys me another knife after that.

Being the lady of the house, I realize he remembers to carry one when I never have a knife around! He's gotten me hooked on come, and I help with his addiction! :p

Like someone above mentioned....He always comes home to me, and doen't have any other women!

Very true. If it was not for me and my KNIVES my wife and kids would have no penciles to write with!! :confused:
 
Wife doesn't ask about the knives I already have, but often questions my need for yet another. My standard answer is, "Because I don't have one like it."

I was asking myself the same question and told my wife that it was a guy thing, and like an obsession. I told her I didn't expect her to understand. She answered she did understand. She said it was just like when she saw a very nice pair of black shoes, she would be obsessed and she must have them. I used to be able to say, well you have more shoes than I do knives. Some how that changed. :D
 
I just finished an addition to our house that includes a walk in closet for my wife. 36' of clothing shelves and room for 200 pairs of shoes + purses. She has no problem with my gun-knife-watch habit
