Ask her how many outfits/purses/pairs of shoes she needs.
No wife here, but every female I get the chance to talk to says "Those are illegal, aren't they?" when I bring up knives. Never fails.

That's 'cause most of 'em are liberals, JMO.

Same here... doesn't work if I mention that I don't drink, drug, sit in the bar or whore around. She just hates knives.

I have a friend whose wife is afraid of sharp knives.
Nevermind that sharp knives work better, are safer, etc.
He showed her one of mine, and her only comment was: "that looks sharp."
Now when I tell you that they have 4 kids, you might say "oh, well she's paranoid about the kids."
But then I would tell you that he works at home and is Mr. Mom, so 90% of the time it's his problem. And apparently all his power tools don't give her the jeebies.

He revealed to me that this fear of sharpness was handed down from her mother. So apparently tool-o-phobia is hereditary. I bet he does most of the cooking too - think he does.
