Wife knife?

Hey Guys,

I am looking for a knife for my wife.

We were looking at the SOG Seal Pup or Becker BK-2..... but then I found ESEE.

She is petite and has fairly small hands. She said the Seal Pup handle fit her nicely so that may be a good general handle size for her.

I was thinking either an RC-3, RC-4 or Izula (with wraps or scales) but don't want to get too small.

So, thoughts on a wife knife?

Thanks for any feedback!

Get the 3. Or possibly the HEST. My Cynthia is constantly stealing my 3 from me to use in the kitchen and such. I suppose I'll have to get her one of her own some day. The 3's handle is pretty small. Cyn's got teeny tiny hands and it fits her good.

I'ld go with the ESEE-3. I've watched my wife and daughters with my 4 and izula, as well as the kitchen cutlery and know they could handle a larger blade. I just think they would be more comfortable using and carrying the 3. The worst that can happen is she doesn't like it and you can add it to your collection.

what ever other ESEE 3,4 or HEST you get her,she must have a pink Izula with scales!
and get her a BK2.

I would vote for the ESEE 3. My girlfriend uses it when we go on day hikes. Unfortunately, it only seems to see some cheese and dried meat cutting... at least for now :)

My wife loves her pink Izula, she wrapped the handle herself and uses it all the time when we go fishing or just around the house. Can't go wrong with it imo.

My wife has small-medium hands, she loves the ESEE 3 and says the 4 is too heavy. She carries a Pilot Survival knife that I modded, so, I would go with the 3, orange G10 and OD coating :D Moose

She might like this one!! ;)

I say get her a Junglas, once she says the handles too big buy her a ESEE4 or 5 of course that one is too big also so then maybe go with the 3 or the Izula and make her happy (meanwhile you keep the first two knives). This is what is known as a win win situation. That's my recommendation.

I'd go for the 3 over an izula for starting with. My wife carries a BM Fixed-Grip when out fishing and stuff, and likes the size, where as my izula is comfortable, it isn't comforting as it were, too small for poking holes in things she doesn't like. I have rather small hands, and the 3 is a perfect fit, for my hands.

You might be on to something there...

I like the way you think. Lady has seen through that after as many years as we have been together, she would just keep the Junglas. Moose.

I would recommend the Izula or ESEE-3.

The BK-2 (great knife) is pretty heavy and requires a fair amount of forearm strength to control properly. I really wouldn't recommend something this big. But as with any knife purchase, it should be matched with the intended use. The Izula is a great utility blade and can do almost as much as the ESEE-3. Whereas the 3 is a bit better at slicing and certain food prep tasks. But your mileage may vary...

Id get her the esee-3. My gf uses mine all the time. She says fells better then the 4 and izula. Good luck!

I may try this though I have no wife.

What's she going to use it for? Izula is good for most task. My wife has an Izula and doesn't need more for her use. But if heavy duty camping a Rc3 would be nice. Cuz your gonna do the rest :D
