Recently fell into the Spyderco abyss and the wife started "inquiring" about the credit card purchases. To avoid questions like: Another Knife?...Why do you need more than 1 knife? Don't you already have one of those? That came after the Blade HQ PM2 Exclusive purchase.... What is Blade HQ? I had to formulate a plan. After some careful deliberation I gave her a brand new Kershaw Ken Onion Blur to carry and showed her how to deploy the blade. She carries it every day and practices handling it. Told me yesterday she forgot it at home and felt naked without it. My dilemma seemed solved as she took an interest in my new venture and wanted to learn about the different models. Saw her eyeballing my new Black Serrated Pacific Salt the other day but thought nothing of it. Came home from the gun range yesterday and found my wife out in her butterfly gardens using it to prune branches and cutting boxes and rope. Apparently she likes the utility of a serrated edge. Now she wants one but prefers the yellow handled version. She's been checking out the PM2's. Thank God she thinks the Jade G10 is ugly. I may have created a monster.

well, as a collector, «another knife?» is not a question! lol it becomes more like: «another knife so soon?!?» it's fine, but It's my budget busting that is the issue..... So for another knife, I can just thin out some of my pieces, the less appreciated of the bunch, then there's no issues with «another knife», especially when they finance themselves!!! WIN WIN WIN :D

My wife did complain in the beginning of my knife buying frenzy, but then I bought her a Spyderco Gayle Bradley original and she uses it constantly in the kitchen. She loves the knife. And then for our anniversary she completely blew my mind, bought me a Rockstead Higo.Best wife in the world :).

I do my best not to stress about her ebay/etsy purchases, she does her best to not flip out when I talk about how good a deal a $90 knife is, haha.

Got my wife a pink handled RAT-2 and she loves it. She doesn't see why I need any more than I have but understands that I want more just like I don't understand her cake domes, seatbelt purses etc. but know that she wants more.

Ive tried to get my wife into carrying a knife. A delica would be perfect for her. She has no interest. Luckily i can purchase three knives a year, each in the 0-$250 budget with no choice complaints. Usually January is on the low end and then summer time is about $175 -$250 and then end of the year is the same.

I picture a group therapy session of KKA (knife knuts anon.) with everyone sitting around talking about how thier wives are pissed by their purchases and you dropping your head in shame as you admit...

I lie about how much some of them cost

Since we are admitting our faults...

I have all of mine delivered to my work.

I admit I've paid with MO's when possible to keep a paypal payment OFF THE RECORD. I've got enough knives to open a store.

I work my ass off and pay all the bills, so the wifey doesnt stress me about the occasional knife purchase. Of course I dont spend obscene amounts of money on knives, and my two favorite brands (Spyderco and Cold Steel) are quite affordable.

When my wife goes out on a kid free weekend with her girlfriends, not much is said about a couple sharp pieces of steel that show up here and there during the year. The hard part is managing expectations, she sees $150 for knife she thinks "that must be one awesome knife" so what I do occasionally is show her some marfoni's and microtechs that id like, something in the $1500 range . This way the $100-250 knifes seem much more affordable

My wife never complained about my knife spending. We were married over 20 years when I got into spydies, so she trusted my judgement.

So when can KKA get rolling. I need help. The Spyderco 2016 catalogue arrived yesterday. I could "sneak" knife purchases through Paypal but BladeHQ does not accept PayPal. :(
