Wife or significant other complaining about knife purchases ?

That tactic didn't work on my wife... all the knives I've given her are gathering dust. She shakes her head at this particular hobby, but accepts it!

mine is similar, but when she uses her knives, she usually does so around the garden, opening soil bags....dulling the crap out of her edges and digging the blade down all the way in the earth up to the pivot ....non knife people are so abusive HAHA

Lol. Same here she doesn't use hers. Though the head shaking is decreasing every time she needs my knife to cut something. The question isn't even anymore do you have a knife but can I have your knife. Even saw some disappointment once I didn't have a knife (after exiting an airport)

Also getting her brother into knives helps. :-p

Working since yesterday with her uncle to pick an edc blade and torch for him. He asked himself! I guess almost all guys are into knives at varying degrees.

Anyways the general strategy should be to make a wife realize that it's useful or at least perfectly normal, to some extent.
