So I'm sitting watching TV and my wife comes up to me and says she wants an EDC. I was like, you want a what? She picked up the terminology from listening to me I guess and she wants a folder with a clip she can put in her pocket. She works with a bunch of guys so no pink ones for her. She said she wanted to look like a real knife and she wanted ppl to say that it was cool rather than it was cute.

She wants to use it for cutting her lunch at work, whittling a stick, cutting up chicken breast etc for camp stew while camping and she doesn't want it to be huge. 3" or so blade would probably do it. Also shouldn't be to expensive since she looses things rather often. Orange or some other bright handle would be good for finding it in the woods. She has a opinel her dad gave her many years ago but it's rather big for edc and the blade is loose.

Maybe keep it under $70 or so if possible.

Thanks

EDIT: I forgot to mention that it can't be "pointy" like my para2 because it's hard to spread mayo etc with a tip like that.

G10 UKPKs (in rescue orange) are on clearance on the Spyderco website. A bit more than your budget, but great steel, deep carry clip, legal most anywhere and in the blade length she is looking for.

Delica 4 is about the perfect EDC knife imo. Especially if you dont want a "Pointy" tip. The tip on the Delica is not the "Pointiest".

I agree with the Delica 4 suggestion. If you go with the full-flat grind, you can get different handle colors. They don't have orange, but the blue is nice and very visible if she drops the knife in the wilderness. You could also go with a Salt I (same size as the Delica) which comes with yellow handles.

The orange Pack Rat is sweet. They actually have a fixed version as a hunter.

I also second the flat ground Delica. The tip on the current model is not a needle point. The Salt 1 is essentially a Delica that will never rust, which is great for food prep, and comes with a choice of black or yellow handle.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I forgot to mention that in Canada we can't have any knives that aren't manual open meaning the rat pack is a no go. The Salt 3" actually looks pretty good so far.

The FFG delicas are terrific slicers and come in a variety of colors to choose from. I find that blade length is the perfect size for EDC tasks for me.

My wife absolutely loves the Benchmade mini griptilian. It's available in many different colors and is a great all around knife. I carried one for several years myself. I'm partial to the one with the thumb hole opener. I think it's exactly what you're looking for!

Another great choice might be the Spyderco salt I. This is a knife that can't rust and is very light weight. Being low maintenance it is the perfect folder for food prep. It comes in bright yellow. I have one and love it as an edc. My only problem is that I've misplaced it somewhere.:(

Why don't you let her look at a bunch of knives then pick the one she likes.

Ladies also like the Axis mech because it's easy on the fingernails.

Professor.

Another nice thing about the Salt 1 is that it doesn't have liners, so there's no chance of crud getting caught under them. Also, the yellow ones can be dyed some nice colors with RIT dye.

However, if she really want to make a lasting impression on the guys she works with, maybe a serrated SpyderHawk Salt would be a better choice. :)

The salt 1 not having liners concerns me. Will the blade get loose or anything like that? Never had a knife without liners before.

I think you'll find that the knife is plenty strong enough for edc tasks. It's not a folder for felling trees but it really shines as an edc.

That is not an accurate statement. We are not allowed automatics (switchblades) but assisted opening knives are perfectly legal. The pack rat is available domestically at some pretty competitive prices. I'd go with a Delica myself tho.

Get her an assisted flipper like a good Kershaw Leek. That's what my wife carries and she likes it. :)
