.... some may have seen the news but there are bad fires to the west and south of Sydney just now, the wind has been howling almost all day (quiet now) and at 6pm the whole place was in a eerie yellow orange glow... :( Hopefully no lives are lost tonight (around 40 homes are gone so far :( :( )

I stepped outside to put the bins out and the sky/light combined with the big Ironbark tree out front was just something different.... had to snap a couple of pics....

Those fires are frightening. Are you safe where you are?
Also the photos are amazing. The contrast is spectacular
 
We are OK, we live in a fire prone area but no issues so far..seeing the RFS trucks parked up you street and the dark smoke (not this year but a few ago now) brings it all home :(

I have to admit Im glad I don't live in a fire prone area anymore, even though I miss the natural beauty.
Be careful on the road too - people drive like idiots when there is any smoke around.
Hats off to our volunteer fireys.
 
I think this summer is gunna be a nasty one. The last of my grass died about a week ago. We were getting high 30's just out of winter.

Yeh pretty bad hey mate, smoke & fires everywhere. Can't believe how dry it is. Where's the bloody rain! We had choppers filling up from the dams last week with a fire behind property. Got vid I must upload. Hope it all quiets down tonight. Stay safe peeps.
 
Looked pretty nasty in the city too. There was a strip of clear blue sky underneath the smoke cloud though.
 
Great shots Andy. The sky this afternoon was a burnt orange that I can't describe. Ash was raining in my area......prayers going out for the affected.
 
Keep safe, Andy. I hope that the fire isn't so hungry and spares you all from further damage.
Sentcha an email the other day...a link to something that will hopefully distract you for an hour or so when its safe to avert your attention. Hope it helps.

The pictures are insane, those colors look so eerie! :eek: It's good to hear that you're alright. All of you HOGs from the land down under. please stay safe. Try to stay cool guys!

This^^^^ and Hope you get some Rain Soon...We had some bad Wildfires here in the Western US this year so I hope You and Your Mates fair Better!!!!
