This is our new knife "The Packer". We offer a stardard belt sheath or a cross draw sheath with this knife. It is made from 1084 High Carbon Steel and has genuine stag handles. This knife, (these knives) are completely made by us in our little knife shop in Toutle, Washington. We also do all of our own leather work too. We have this knife advertised in the current issue of BLADE Magazine (Feb 2011) on page 32. The knife you will be receiving will not be this exct knife, but one similar. I can take pictures of several knives and email them to you if you would like. This way you could see the exact knife before you purchase. The price is $69.00 each and $6.00 shipping, 2 or more knives free shipping.

The blade is approx 2 1/2" long and the total length is real close to 6" long. The blade thickness is 1/8".

Just curious to know who "We" and "Us" are? Are these knves sole authorship? Are they made by a team? Are they factory made? What is the price?

I did come up with this idea/design for the Packer. While no two knives will ever be exactly the same, they will be close. they are completleyhandmade by me, I did come up with this design by myself, I didn't copy anybody else's knife. I assume that is what you mean by "sole authorship"?

i could be mistaken, but i think "sole authorship" means that you did the profiling, grinding, glued up the scales, made the sheath, etc.

some makers do their own HT, some send the blades out.

some makers have the blanks cut on a waterjet, some have them profiled by an apprentice. some have someone else do the handles or sheaths.

i don't think anyone was implying that this was a copy of anything else... but there are some knives where they do look similar. sometimes that's simply because the basic design has been around forever, sometimes it's because the maker was influenced by other work that they like... and on some occasions it's a very close copy of something else.

there don't seem to be a lot of clones around here.

sometimes "we" is the person speaking and the dawg. sometimes it's the maker and another family member.

dunno, just trying to fill in some blanks. welcome to BF!
 
Thanks guys for asking/telling.....I did the design, profiling, grinding, put the scales on finished er off, and did the sheath.....You are probably right about being influenced on design, I really doubt this day and age any body is really going to be able to come with a true original knife design. It was not my intention, however to copy anything from anybody.

I welcome any input and feedback.

I am sorry if my post offended you in any way as that most certainly was not my intent. It was just the use of the words "we, "us", and "our" that threw me off. I didn't know if this was a co-op of sorts or a team of craftsmen.

You do beautiful work and I like your design.
 
Jvan, you didnt't offend me in any way at all, sorry if i gave you that impression......thanks for the compliment.....I have a smaller version of the "Packer" I will put on here in a day or so. The "Little Packer" , it's kind of a lil cutie, I will offer it with a standard belt, crossdraw, or a neck sheath. It is going to make an awesome Patch Knife for muzzleloaders, but could be used in other applications. Total length is 3 3/4" to 4", blade length approx 2" and a price of $59.00....
