Wild Onions are back!

Foragers - Wild Onions/Garlic apparently have some very poisonous look alikes. If you're not aware of this, take some time to research. (This is not directed to anybody in particular, just a good thing for all of us to keep in mind).

whoa...thanks for the head's up! looks like it's time for me to pick up a book on wild edibles. i did eat one of the bulbs in the midst of my excitement. that was almost 6 days ago so i think i'm good on this particular find. input from you guys are always welcome!

One of the tests is whether or not it has an onion smell. The problem is after you've handled a few onions, even a pencil will smell like an onion in that hand.

One genus in particular you might want to check out is Zigadenus

it's time for me to pick up a book on wild edibles

Equally important are books on poisonous plants for your area.

Man after looking at this thread again I'm in the mood to go grab some wild onions.......Might have to sneak away to my stash tommorrow!
