For a Christmas present, I received the Chuck Burrows (Wild Rose) sheath making video. I watched it today, and I'll tell you, it's 4 hours of pure talent.

I've never been much of a fan of making sheaths. It's just one of those things that I've never really enjoyed, mostly because I'm not all that great at it. After watching Mr. Burrows complete several sheaths, complete with carving, inlaying, Mexican loops, finishing, and stamping, I'm speechless (not literally, of course :) ). He's an extremely talented leather worker, and seeing him in action makes me appreciate the sheaths I've seen him post here that much more. It was one of those videos that you just don't want to stop. It is extremely well edited, very thorough without being overly repetitive, and the narration is very easy to follow and presented by a master sheath maker and excellent educator. I've watched a number of videos on knife related topics, and this is by far the best I've seen as far as quality and editing. It really did help me connect some dots that I was missing (quite a few of them, actually) in my sheath work.

Anyway, I feel a little bit of extra confidence going into my next leather sheath build, and just wanted to say, "Thanks, Chuck!"

If you don't own this video, I highly recommend it for anyone making their own leather products!:thumbup::thumbup:

Good to know you liked it.

Without knowing anything about it, It was on my to do list...even more so now that I know it's worth it.

I also own this video, and it is well worth every penny and then some. I am still waitng on your Frontier Sheath video Chuck( hint hint)!:D

There is SO much info in that video, you have to watch it a few times, and take notes. It is an awesome instructional!

I have the sheath and the holster video. I highly recommend both. Chuck has a way of instructing that even I can follow.

I agree wholeheartedly...I've made a few sheaths now using this DVD, and having never done any prior leatherwork, achieved results that I was very pleased with.

I think the only improvement that could be made is to record future DVDs in H,D if not cost prohibitive, so that all the fine details can be easily seen.

Chuck I have to say that besides being a fine maker, you are one of the most helpful guys around! My hat is off to you. Thanks for helping so many of us get off the ground! I have received compliments on my leather work, that is directly a result of following your video. Gracias!

After watching a few grinding videos , I was skeptical at buying Chucks , as some of the DVD's in the past were lacking detail.

Chuck's video is worth its weight many times over. To those who are getting started or have been at it for awhile or those who are thinking of trying leather work , get the DVD.
You will not be disappointed.

I must have watched it 12 times so far. And Chuck is always helpful with info , thanks Chuck.

Here's a pic of my third finished sheath following Chuck's video. I'm a rank amateur with no prior leatherworking experience, and I think it could have taken me years on my own to make something this nice. I say if you are interested in learning to make a sheath, buy it!

two thumbs:thumbup::thumbup: for Chuck's video. I've watched it a couple times and learned a lot from them. A true master at his craft.

I bought this video as a Christmas present to myself and finally had the time to sit down and watch it this weekend.
Outstanding Chuck!

Thanks to all who took the time to post and glad it has been of help - of course my head is now so big I'm going to need to buy a new hat! :D ;) :D

John C - I would like to do one on "frontier" sheaths, but need to find the time, if any body has some extra their willing to donate :p ;) :p

Alos drop me an email or give me a call re: aqua fortis - I'll give you the skinny on it......
