Be sure to watch it a 2:04 where they're popping small holes in 3/4" 6150 at 187 IPM. And I about peed my pants at 2:50

Wow, that's nuts. I just saw these earlier, which you might already be aware of.

It's nuts isn't it? They get a clean hole, but when I rapid into a part it's a crash...

That is some insane feed rates. As an ex Machinist I love watching these kind of videos.

Wow, looks like fast forward but, it wasn't. Takes a good machine as well as the bit to do that.

Holy crap that last part is insane!!
My $30 Harbour freight benchtop drill press is gonna go cry in the corner now. :(

Wow!!!! All three of those are crazy, but you have to see that slow mo video of that rampmill to know that it is actually throwing a stream of chips and not a fountain of molten aluminum.

Holy Schmokes! It's been about 15 years since I worked for Automation Tooling Systems, my how things have changed!!!!!

i start to pee my pants around 75-80 IPM on my cnc machine. i am going to look into these bits, they look epic. i wonder how much the unit much cost to push the coolant through the bit though. Probably a complicated process.

Even with my very limited knowledge of machining that is impressive. Like a hot knife through butter.

Hey Nathan, Can you explain "feed rates"? Is that how fast you push the bit through the part? Sorry to be ignorant, just not a lot of time around a machine shop. Awesome stuff any way you look at it!

That rampmill is the cat's meow. It would have taken me at least an hour to do that with rat tailed file. :D

Robert

too kewl. where do sign up to get a rig like that? i might be able to fit it in the spare bedroom once i kick my mother-in-law out.

That is pretty insane - all three video's, but especially at 2:50 in the first. Don't try this at home, kids!

Gritting my teeth; I was waiting for that puppy to explode. I am going to the shop to have a talk with my J head Bridgeport; not to tell her she is a slacker but that slow and easy, for her age, is the way to go.

Exciting, Fred

I'm gonna try that with my Lowes drill press. Now where can I get one of those ramp mill cutters? ;) :D
