Well I have a few long winter trips coming up and it got me thinking about what I'm carrying, blades obviously my favorite thing to think about. So lets see your guys's wilderness teams that do everything and anything you need to do while out in the woods weather you be a bushcraft junkie, a casual camper, or a hardcore primitive survivalist. What do y'all carry?

I have got a Mora pro stainless, an Aranyik Thai E-nep (with 12 inch blade), a Leatherman Rebar, and a hand made bucksaw I finished today with oak limbs and a 24" blade. Also it seems a camera as clear as a butternut squash.

I'm just casual camper. I would like to get myself a proper axe at some point but for now I am rolling with these. And honestly, I have found tomahawk to do just fine as I really rarely need to split or chop anything at the woods (mostly collecting dead wood from the ground). Only thing I don't like about the hawk is the handle, as I once had really potentially dangerous situation as the thing slipped out of my hand when I had gloves on. From that on I have used it with two hands only. Hudson Bay knife does some chores where the hawk might be too clumsy and acts also as "backup" knife and the Mora classic 2 does the regular fine work.

Depends on the type of trip I am taking and how much space/weight I can dedicate to cutlery.

Basic two knife combo would be a Mora Bushcraft or Mora 1 with a Victorinox Farmer or Leatherman Wave.

Lots of options though. I may throw in a Bahco folding saw or a GB Wildlife Hatchet. It is space is not at a premium the BK9 is always fun to have in the woods.

Generally though it's pretty lame. A Mora and a multipolar can do most anything I need done.

That's a very old timey set up man, I like it.

A log mountain men were served by a hawk, a butcher knife, and a small knife.

Thanks! :thumbup: And I can see why, too. I like the hawk for it's light weight and the hudson bay for it's compact versatility.

My classic set up.

Here's my alternative trio for lighter carry;
- Mora companion with leather dangler sheath I made
- Mora hatchet with supplied leather sheath
- Victorinox/Swiss Bianco Carver

How about an ultralight set up? This hike was only a mile or two, but I sat and whittled a bit and watched the sunset.
