ok looking for a bulletproof sqauckbox aka 2 way radio, VHF/CB/etcetc etc. I want to be able to reach the outside world, be it calling someone in the air, land or sea. Must be water resistant, shock resistant, have basic channels/frequencies that are MONITORED, must have mic jack.

Thoughts?

Bushman You need to get a Ham Radio license and get yourself a Yaesu VX-7R receive is from .05 mhz to 999 mhz. it will transmit on 4 different ham bands. it is submersible/water proof you can get an external speaker mic that is also water proof. I have had one for 3 years now simply a great radio Doug KC2MVC

I agree DPKnives. Get your Technician Amateur License and buy a VX-7R. I've been using one for two years now and it has held up wonderfully. The waterproof mic is cool but the standard one that you can get holds up really well despite not being waterproof. Mine was used on a search during which 13 inches of rain fell. I shock the water out of it when I got home and hung it over a heater vent and it is none the worse for wear. I also reccomend the SRH77CA made by Diamond. This antenna has become the antenna of choice amongst the hams using Yaesu handhelds in the SAR community around here.
