I became fascinated with the tracker movie knife several years ago and have made several versions of my own design. I watched a couple of YouTube video reviews of the TOPS version of the Tracker and incorporated some improvements cited by the reviewers. First 3/16 inch thick 1095 (TOPS uses 1/4") was selected to provide a strong but lighter blade that makes both good chopping and cutting easy and makes the the knife more pleasant to carry. Several of the reviewers complained that the location of the half round fell on the chopping sweet spot and reduced the effectiveness to chop. So the blade was lengthened slightly to move the natural chopping sweet spot forward away from the half round. This custom Tracker incorporates a saw back with aggressive teeth which makes it a great notching tool. The edge at the back of the blade is ground thin which is good for fine slicing work and functions as a draw/push knife. I clay heat treated the blade to achieve a hard edge of about 60 Rc which also produced a great looking hamon.
The sheath I made for this knife is similar to a Hedge Hog with less features that allows for either a scout carry or standard hang it off your belt vertically on the left or right side..
Specs:
Blade is 3/16 inch thick 1095 high carbon steel differentially heat treated with a nice hamon.
Handle is nicely figured mango wood scales sealed with Tung oil (not stabilized) with black spacers bolted on the knife's full tang with loveless bolts and epoxy.
Blade Length (tip to wooden scale) is 7.3 inches, the front edge is flat ground.
Draw Knife Length is 2 inches and chisel ground.
Notching saw back length 3.7 inches
Overall Length is 12.75 inches
Brown tooled heavy 8/9 ounce leather sheath set up to carry either horizontally or vertically (shown).
SOLD Price is $225 plus $12 shipped in the US
