Wilderness & Survival Skills Extreme Build Off

I don't think a decision has been made about the W&SS challenge thread yet, looks like EDC is winning.

To heck with the darn poll....... if the makers would rather make some big honking knives than that is what we should make!

Right now I'm a little burned out making 4" bladed bushcrafters, and don't feel that jazzed up to make another one for a challenge.

Here, Here - lets make some zombie busters!:D

Thats what I'm talking about... some Sharpened PryBars  I can't wait to start seeing these roll out !

I may just get into this one. Might think about a new design.
Scott

I already drew something up and made a wooden prototype. It seems like a good design but I think one made of steel would perform better.:p

I'm in on this. If you want a size restriction, I'd rather see it on blade length than overall length simply for this: I make large handles. Not big around, but long. At the ABS Expo in San Antonio in January, I noticed that a lot of really nice handles were just a smidge small for my comfort, and while my hands are larger than average, I have had many folks that I've compared with when talking about handle length whose hands were at least as big. It annoys me that most handle wood comes in a 5" length. To say 15" overall would mean I need to shorten the blade down some to accommodate the handle.

And I agree that folks need to worry less about other people's choice in blades. As long as they aren't running around wantonly tearing up Jake, does it matter if they're doing their camp chores with a Mora or a machete?

So are we making knives only, or are our options open?

I say as long as it has a cutting edge it's good to go.... knives, axes, hatchets, hawks, machetes, cleavers, shovels... whatever...

Dam I feel my bank account will be less when I see these big blades. I always carry an 8 inch blade into the big woods up here.

I am down for the OPEN EXTREME. Can't wait to see the entries. I have changed my mind about four times while reading this. Any ideas on time frame, I saw two months out so does that mean early May?

Ive already got 2 started. and with mention of zombies, maybe I should send one to mila jovavich for a pic!

The 2 months mentioned would be April 30, which is what I have on my calendar to have one ready by.

I don't know if I can hit April 30th but I'm going to give it a try. I've finally got something on paper I like but I am just now ordering the steel. When I showed it to my 13 year old son he asked me if it was some kind of "Gears of War" knife. What the hell am I doing? I'm WAYYYYYYYYYY outside my comfort zone!

I believe we have lifted all restrictions, Stormy.

I'm just sayin'... :)

Arggggh!!! Make a bush sword now for this one, or wait until we cycle back through to a machete-only challenge? Hmmm, I have a couple of other ideas.... We'll see.

The only thing I'm saying about my entry is that it does not have an engine.... you ride it like a pogo-stick.

Oh, you're doing one of them Yoshimitsu swords, ain't ya, Rick? Can you do the helicopter with it too? :D
