Will a stonewashed blade give away a reflection?

:) I dont know anything about Ernie Emerson or his products. I just really liked the handle and bladeshape of this knife so i think i am going to buy one.

So are you saying that this blade wont give away a reflection? English is not my first language and i dont speak ironi eather so i canot really find an answer to my question in this thread so far.

Thank you for your answer.

If you are buying it entirely because you like the way it looks, then why do you care if it reflects light?

Either you are buying some sort of tactical knife/weapon from Emerson...then you should trust Emerson to make it correctly. Its what he does.
Or you are buying some cool stabby knife because it looks awesome.

Either way you are OK with the stonewash.

If you're not blackening the edge with soot or burnt cork after sharpening you're washing out of commando school.

haha........you got me there.

i figured you'd use the old dried blood from last throat cutting would stop that edge from reflecting light.:)

There is some advantage to a shiny blade. It shows better. Thus when your opponent sees your knife he could become frightened and poop his pants. In that moment you STRIKE!

greetings all,
hey spysmasher, are you sure that's a microtech otf in your photo? I swear it looks more like my infidel. could be the glare from the blade messing me up. best regards to all.

It's a Microtech. I do all my wet work with the same model. Here's a night selfie with the same knife during my last spec op.

And that's me smiling in the background with me FS knife. I got my teeth DLCed for maximal "operator" status.

:)

Seriously, op, get the knife you want. If you have to resort to your knife, you have really fscked up! :D

hey bluearcflash,
damn buddy, I knew that was you in that selfie. long time no see. you haven't changed a bit. take care

Did you decide against the LUDT in favor of the ETAK?

Remember folks, this thread was brought to you by the guy who wanted to use a Spyderco triangle sharpener to sharpen this Sword!

I am now going to be taking his threads with a grain of salt, as I am unsure how serious to take them.

If you are buying the knife because you are taking out sentries tactical style then this question is relevant. If not? Then it isn't. What will you be doing with this knife? And if you are a high speed low drag operator then why are you asking a bunch of knife folks on the internet? Shouldn't your unit be better equipped to answer such a question? Think about it.

backyarding and neighborhood commandoing and ramboing is a lonely field.........

So my question is simply: will this blade give away a reflection or not?
Unfortunately, yes, this blade will give away a reflection.
Lucky for us all--or at least those of us who want to be felt but never seen(..?)--there is an economical solution:

Also, as an aside... if you should happen to find yourself in the following situation, you've done something wrong:

If you're worried about it just hit the dimmer switch at the mall before you go all ninja.

To answer the OPs question seriously - yes, a regular stonewashed blade will reflect light, and will be spotted immediately by any enemy snipers, aerial reconnaissance drones, and if the blade is over 4", some space based surveillance sats will pick you up from orbit. Tomahawks inbound. And you sure don't want that. Matte black at all times. OpSec is everything.

This cannot be a serious question. OP are you stealthing around the back yard hunting crickets with your pocket knife? Any metal will glint light, unless it's a complete matted dull finish. Stonewashes are subject to whatever company did them, some are more polished than others.

Seriously, OP, if you like the knife and can afford it, just buy it!

And tell us what you think!
