Will any folder REALLY last a lifetime?

A knife will last a lifetime if you use it as a tool like it's meant to be and not abuse it.

Moving parts that touch cause friction, wear. Its only a matter of time before the wear renders the knife useless. But in some cases, that might mean a million or more openings and closings. I'm almost positive CRK and spyderco have both tested their folders in a machine that opens and closes them until enough wear sets in.

Even then, its not impossible to tune up worn down knives, fabricate new parts.

I'd say a folder can last darn near forever, with the right care.

use them wisely, think before cutting and then cut, maintain it
and it will take care of you for a long time

Of course it will. If you don't abuse it and maintain it.
