Will be buying first 110 today

Now I wish I had just answered your original post with grab the cheapest one ;)
Nice score!! Enjoy it.

I would be nice if you did a review and let us know what you think of it after you have used it for awhile.

I think it would be interesting to hear what a fresh 110 owner thought of how it performs compared to his previous knives.

Cheers,
Allen

The comment about the leather sheath causing accelerated tarnishing is quite true...Also, I know from experience that if you sweat into the leather sheath, the dye will bleed into any shirt or trousers it is in contact with... :(

I can't comment on contact with natural water (rain; thrown into lake; fall into bathtub), but I would expect that to cause bleeding, too...Dye bleeding, I mean... :D

How new/old was yours Trax..?
I wonder if that is just the new ones? Carried the retired 70's one for years and years of hunting. All kinds of weather, lot of different kinds of work. No die bleed. But I do still have that black sheath that half of it turned tan after I sprayed it with lysol to clean off some mildew. I bet that one would have bled..

allenC, I will gladly do a review of it, after I have had it for a while. However, this is the first quality folding knife I have bought, so I have nothing else to compare it to, except a few cheapies.

What do you guys use to clean your knives? Or do you clean your knives? I have some Flitz metal polish, but Im not sure if it is ok to get on the wood. The instructions say to lube the knife. What are the lube points, and how often is this to be done? I am very impressed with this knife. It has a nice heft to it, and feels to be a quality knife. When open, the blade has no play, it is indeed centered in the slot when closed. On the tang of the blade it says Buck, 110, USA, and next to the "110" is what looks like an arrow pointing down. What does this denote? One more question....does anybody have a graphic showing what part of the knife is called what? Im not very familiar with knife lingo.

Flitz is fine on the brass, it wont hurt the wood, just wipe it off!
Arrow pointing down is the 2007 year stamp.
Lube the pivot point.
I wash it with hot water, not in a dishwasher, just rinse it ;)
Enjoy!

I wonder if that is just the new ones?...

How would you tell if it was a brand new [2007] or NOS [say, 1999] sheath that had been sitting at Wally World for years??? (And yes, they do). :(

I'm not even sure which one it was now...All my sheaths go into a large box, they're not matched with any knives or boxes...(The boxes are also separate)...

But I do know which T-shirt it was...And I need to buy some more...
