Will Blade Play be Better in the ZT 0560/0561?

I saw a you tube video showing excessive blade play on a zt 0550. Has anyone heard if this will be corrected in the upcoming flippers?

Hi jspaxton -

I have an 0551 and have handled another one on a passaround and neither had any blade play.

best regards -

No bladeplay on my 0551.

With KVT washers the 056x's should have even less opportunity for blade play. The biggest potential problem will be people overtightening the pivot causing excessive and premature wear. When the pivot is tightened correctly with the KVT washers, the blade will move freely yet have absolutely no space to wobble.

I've got one of the ZT 0551's from the latest batch and it has no blade play whatsoever.....this thing is built like a tank. The knife didn't arrive razor sharp but it has absolutely no blade play and lockup couldn't be better. It's the most impressive $200 knife I've ever purchased.

Absolutely no blade play on my 0551. When it was fresh out of the box and after being taken apart and put back together 3 or 4 times. Rock solid!

I had to laugh when I saw the title of this thread. I knew exactly what 99.9% of the replies would be, and I wasn't disappointed one bit! :D

I figured it was just one experience and am now excited to get my 0560. Thanks for all the reassurance.

I've had three 551's. I currently own two after recently selling one. I had one I sent back for excessive blade play. They sent me back a new one. I have heard of others on this forum complain of excessive blade play in the past.

Mine has developed some front/back blade play, but bending the lock bar in more has helped the problem.

It looks to me like most of the knives were great, and that ZT customer service was even better and corrected the problem on the few that had blade play. Even 100,000 dollar mercedes can be a lemon sometimes. . . though mercedes probably wouldn't give you a perfectly functioning new car when they sell you a broken one the first time. Sounds like we can buy our knives with confidence.

i just noticed on mine that if i hold the handle firmly and try to move the blade up and down, it moves just a little bit. a quick fix i want to try i getting those little rubber bands people with braces use and but them around the thumbstud. that way, when it closes, the rubber band will kind of act as a shock absorber, and possibly (hopefully) make it lock up tighter.

I have #1034, absolutely no blade play. And... I haven't put this knife down all week, since I was lucky to get it!

Mcleaven, so is you lockbar not engaging? I'm not fully understanding your issue, thankfully mine is rock solid and been with me every day now. It's hard to keep any other knife in my front right pocket. I really enjoy this blade.
