will bronze taint my forge?

curious if heating bronze in my forge will cause issues when I forge weld steel? I heard long ago that heating nonferrous metal in a forge would make steel welds not stick. I suspect this is an old wives tail but thought I'd ask.

I have never heard of it. I have used some forging bronze and my forge still works fine.
