Will I be taken seriously at blade show?

Bring a file and let them know you want to test edge retention before you buy. ;)

Go and have fun. If a vendor is a jerk spend your money else ware.

Come by the Emerson booth and ask for me! I'll let you see any knife we have! Minus any customs for display of course.

Gabe,

This forum is a microcosm of Blade
The answers and how they were answered indicates, yes you will be taken seriously

Nothing unfortunate at all about being sixteen. You've been given some very sound advice here. Go to blade and enjoy the experience. And know that more than one old Codger will be envious.!

"you meet the same people on the way up as you do on the way down" Anyone who disrespects you as a customer for any reason, doesn't deserve your business. Make sure you get by table 15D. If that guy disses you, I'll smack him for ya! ;-)

Im 17 right now, and have been going to blade show since I was 15. I went yesterday, and I didnt have anybody talk down to me or act as if I was inferior, even when I asked to see Medfords and Hobacks and the like. Nobody treated me like id never be able to afford the customs i looked at even though we both knew that was the case. I wasnt walking around spewing random knife facts out trying to impress people, but if I knew the name of the knife I wanted to look at id use the name, or if I had a specific question id use some knife "terminology". There's thousands of like-minded people in one room, all sharing in the same hobby. Nobody treated me like an outsider. I was talked to like I was just another knife guy. You'll be fine!

Gabe, are you out there? Was just wondering how the show was, how was your experience?

Please post, looking forward to your response.

I did want to add that the only reason a maker/purveyor might not let you handle a knife might be liability issues, if you listened to the above given advice before the show than I'm sure you had a great time. :)

BTW welcome to the forums. , there is a thread in general where the members under 18 tend to hang out if I find the link I'll add it to this post.

How about when I'm 90 years old with nasal drainage, shaking hands, and spittle when I speak?

(Nice post youngun' and nice answers forum members.)
