Maybe with these links you guys can input your say to CBS.
I'm going to add something to my site on this subject keeping in mind they can disable their links, so snail mail may do well also.

Here is where we can make CBS responsible for there actions.
Please follow suit and send your letters to the FCC. Make them do the job they were meant to do.
You can send a complaint, mail to
fccinfo@fcc.gov
their web site http://www.fcc.gov/contacts.html

telling CBS we will boycott them and their advertisers products sounds good to me..
this should be done with the intent to bringing their ratings down
and with good informational content to the benefits of what we do. Awareness

kind of like you could kill someone with a Popsicle stick,, it's called a skiv in a prison.
we better take the ice-cream from out children..

I wonder if Does Cheryl Fiandaca owns a finger nail file??
please post your mail you sent to them and who you sent it to and put in here also in this thread..for us to read too. :)

others for an added Note ! said:
I want to add something Nick mentions later here..
"I'd like to urge those of you that do write, to please take your time and send an articulate, well-spoken letter "

A positive look in both points of view could be of more help, we all (both sides) need to be aware and informed,
inflammatory stuff will give just them news to use against us as a whole being to the point with facts are great. remember they love bad news..

I would like for some of you guys if you would?? edit you post a bit, more in the manor of the above I'd like to
maybe send the link to CBS for them to see the support we have for Steve and his family. what do you think?

concerning your story

Weapons For Sale
A CBS 2 Investigation

This is my own opinion..but I'm sure many will concur

I think an equal story on the other side would be appropriate wouldn't you?
You seem to have gotten one
side of a story,

If we're to worry about knives being sold to do harm

I would go to the mass manufactures where knives and swords can be bought for pennies compared to the art form pieces we make,

if you are going to hurt someone with a knife you are
not going out and buy an $800.00 piece to do it.
a 2X4 or a fire place poker is a lot cheaper and easier to get,
anyone can buy them,
how about kitchen butcher knives, what I do and thousands of others do is make tools of yesteryear works of art and bettering what we do. and that's just the short of it..NOW
A Car is considered a deadly weapon by the police and the State at least it is here
and the
States put 16 year old kids in them and permit them to drive these weapons

and then again they run the liquor store sales also ?? which many of these same kids end up with.

tell me that all the house holds out there put locks on their kitchen draws to keep their kids out of them(knives), they should you know,,these people
are no worse nor better than a man making a living making knives,
at least he will teach his kids how to handle them safely
with respect to them and others.
like I said I would not buy even a $75.00 let alone a $200.00 knife or a $1000.00 knife or sword
to hurt anyone with ,,why
would you if you had the will to do harm? you can walk into sears and buy many of them for that same $75.00 give me a brake please and not print just half of what's said and twist the other..

that guy changed his story I believe not because he is making knives I think it was to save his part time job..from the likes of the uninformed.
in our news papers all over the US the Franklin mint and the Maryland mint (to mention just two) advertises knives and swords all the time what do you say about that?
go onto Yahoo and search for custom knives and see what you get.

you'll hear of the common kitchen knife used as weapons a lot more that any custom hand made knife
If I were you, I'd advocate locks on kitchen draws and teaching the parents to learn how to rise there kids again
some respect of others would deter many crimes..of all sorts..
I'll bet you won't put my story or my web site up.

Dan, The news industry is just a sign of the times. I worry about the future my kids will have even though they are grown. We have lost so much already. The news people are playing up to the group that makes the most political noise......Soccer Moms!

I am not very hopeful for our future because the silent majority is becoming more silent all the time.

God help us because as a group, we won't help ourselves. :barf:

Don.pete :) damned smilies moved again :grumpy:

put you're 2 cents in right here and don't give up the ship
our grand kids can learn from us, who else will teach them.

I see 18 lookers here so far and 1 post :grumpy: you guys that don't
post what you think,, do you think you might be part of the problem?

I hope this isn't to rude :( :grumpy:
make a stand and speak your peace

I'm afraid you are right Peter.don :(

I won't ever give up Dan because to me it's a way of life. I may as well be dead as live like some of these people. As for the others...and I'm not insulting anyone here (people in general), I used to be on a lot of web sites where all I heard was tough talk. They can have my guns when they pry them from my cold dead fingers, If they come in my door I be waiting with a 12 ga.....Bla, Bla, Bla. About half are kids and the others are just loud.

Taking the country by force is not only not an option, it would be downright impossible considering what I've seen preparing to do it.

Other places you get the jailhouse lawyers quoting Patric Henry and telling people that they don't have to have a drivers license. again....Bla, Bla, Bla.

Now here is the problem.....on voting day you don't see 2% of these loudmouths at the polls. I'm not going to start another Georgie Vs Kennedy look-alikes....I don't give a damn who people vote for....just vote!!!

They are too busy or it interferes with the Tuesday bridge game or They have to wash their car or they hear their mother calling.

If someone has a pro gun rally, most will stay home and say something like, I don't want to get on a list or I have a family to support and the boss won't like it or I might get arrested.

With these people on my side,,,,I am doomed!

No Dan, I haven't given up on myself...but I sure as hell have given up on most everyone else! :(

Are you Sure your real last name isn't lyddy? :)

I think we will get along just fine. Cant wait to meet.

They got mine last night Dan, took a couple days for me to cool off enought to write something not slandering and sensational myself.

Hi all
just my 2 cents here
I have seen it first hand here in Canada where firearms were brought out as the source to all our violence. The Liberals instituted crippling and controling firearm registrys and massive spending increases in Tax payer money to support their flawed logic. Over a 1 billion and some later, the gun control hasn't lowered crime, murder rates, violence, but what it has done is alienate hunters and target shooters. I used to enjoy target shooting pop cans in the local gravel pit with my old 22cal.

It seems to me there is a hunt on for terrorists... these are people that want to ruin our lifestyle and condemn citizens to live in fear..... The media seems to be doing a great job of terrorizing the populus... perhaps, the public should open their eyes and set straight the media !!

I have no more firearms, but now I love knife making and blacksmthing. I admit I dropped the ball once, but I'll be damned if I sit by and let the PC crowd score another terrorist victory.

CBS news.... you suck !!

Dan, I sent a couple of emails shortly after I first read the Investigation. I do not think that I saved copies but I will check. Remember everyone be polite if you send something. DO NOT come across as crazed knife freak. Please. I do wonder what will be left in ten to twenty years at this rate. You know the one good thing about this story is that it is out there. People can respond to it and see how silly and simply stupid it is. What I am afraid of is the things that get no press. Here is something that will effect each and everyone of you that are coming to Blade this year. When you fly you can put a ax into your checked bagage if you want to and it will fit. You want to carry a suitcase full of knives and nothing at all to wear, no problem. Fed law says that is fine. Just check the bag and go on to your flight. Here in Georgia they passed a state law that you must inform security at the airport if you are checking baggage that contains any kind of "weapon" and yes this would include any knives that you may have. What could go wrong with telling them that you have many thousands of dollars of knives in your bags? I will not comment on the laws that they passed that make it more of less illegal to carry any knife in public. My point is these new laws got passed with zero press here. None. It was buried in the middle of the Homeland Security laws that the state passed and it wasn't until much later that I found out about them and I try to keep track of such things. It seems to me that the press didn't bother to report on these items because people might respond. I could be wrong on that (as far as the reason for not reporting the story) so take it for what it is worth. I am somewhat glad that at least this story gives people a chance to respond. I think that it is insane of course and sad that we live in a culture that is starting to feel this way about some of the most basic tools that man ever created. Sorry to ramble on it would be easy to go on and on about this. Mark

:D thanks Will and Mark
70+ and counting

go for it...

gun control :barf: gun control is teaching our young

you tell me...
you have 5 houses
a thief see that there is a sign on 4 of the doors that say
we have guns and will used them if you enter uninvited..
the other says we gave up our gun to make the USA a better place to live,,
which one will he pick to rob..??

two guys get killed...
when a victim gets killed by a gun in a robbery and he doesn't have a gun
he had no chance,
when a victim gets killed by a gun in a robbery and he does have a gun
just maybe the bastid will go with him. or maybe saving him self ?

ten guys in a store getting robbed by one guy..
ten guys in that store pulls out a gun ,,,, you tell me what the store clerk
would rather see..
it's getting so robbers don't want people living to be witnesses ... easy pickings
if we don't have guns,, they will have them we know that what's the problem here..,,,

I know that was simple but we seem to be working with simpletons that we put in office...yes you the ones that don't vote you put them there

believe me,, the pecker heads that want gun control (for money) will be voting

send it http://cbsnewyork.com/feedback/ please

Sent mine Dan. Think I'll get my 7yr old daughter to help me design a new knife :) while I still can.
Fight this BS
Peace

:(

Peter, bravo for your comment! I am a firm believer in the modern adage, "If you don't vote, then don't bitch." It is the most important avenue we have in the US for changing things. It may not work great, and it may not work fast, but it is the most important "right" we have. I would love to see us move towards the day, in this electronic age, where there could be more things decided by true referenda as opposed to the method of federated republic/representatives who vote their "conscience" instead of the "will of the people". But then, again, with the number of radical single-issue idiots in this country, perhaps the founding fathers had a much clearer insight into the human psyche than I ever will. :)

Dan, I had responded to CBS before the thread ever appeared here, when it first showed on CKD. As a lazy retired guy, I have taken it upon myself to be a gadfly, and aggravate people writing letters, even if they could care less; there's always the chance I might ruin their day. :)

:) some of them need to know how and why they get a paycheck ;)

I am so sick of this soccermom news coverage we get lately. NY and CA seem to be the worst. I am SO glad I left NJ when I had the chance. Don't ANY of you guys think "it won't happen here", whereever you are.

We have to help ourselves. Vote. Write. Join AKTI and the NRA.

I'm too PO'd to say anything else right now.

I also sent the letter before this started Dan....I have also sent over 30 emails to sponsors saying thanks for the memories!

Just my 2 cents...

I'd like to urge those of you that do write, to please take your time and send an articulate, well-spoken letter.

If you do, I think it will speak much louder to them than otherwise. The guys that sent them letters saying "you suck, I hate you, go die." are only fanning the proverbial flame. That's the kind of mail they'll follow up with saying, "See, and there are other whack-jobs just like this first one."

Of course I think this whole thing absolutely wreaks of sensationalism just as much as the rest of you do. But we need to stand up and show ourselves as the true craftsmen we are and not give them any fuel to believe we're anything at all like their ridiculous crap "investigational news" claims.

Thanks for bringing this up Dan,
Nick

Email to Cheryl.
Cheryl.
Please educate yourself on the art of Bladesmithing and Forging.
There are thousands of edged tool makers in shops and garages all across our country.
From time to time you see where a newspaper showcases a persons ability
to create embellished knives, axes and spears. Why did you chose
to grind this guy into the dirt? Has the recent publicized murder of
one of our own in Iraq caused you to jump on the fear bandwagon?
I doubt that this rediculous story will boost your image or the image of CBS.
Good one Cheryl. You got to beat up one of the little guys.
