The Sog Pillar uses CPM S35VN steel which is not sucky by anyone’s definition. Maybe what you are doing with the Pillar is what sucks (throwing it)?I like the designs of dogs knives but their choices of steel suck , recently got. Sure but it’s chippy! 3v wouldn’t have chipped that easily for what I didThe Sog Pillar uses s35v steel which is not sucky by anyone’s definition. Maybe what you are doing with the Pillar is what sucks (throwing it)?![]()
I’ve been very happy with the Cold Steel offerings in 3v. Maybe an SRK in 3v to abuse?Sure but it’s chippy! 3v wouldn’t have chipped that easily for what I did

I dont see this going well.
I’m with you a exchanged it with a SRK 3v steel think this can handle my rough life betterForget the "dogs" and get some "Clod Steal" (Cold Steel ) 3V and throw 'em all you want !
But: please note that actual throwing knives usually have thicker edges and handles built for extra punishment , like being thrown into knives already stuck in target .
Just think the 3v steel wouldn’t have chipped so easily , kinda sad to have a 200$ knife not take a little punishment and fall apart like it’s made of glassI've seen quite a few knives busted by people throwing them over the years. But this is the first time I've ever
seen anyone try to put the blame on the steel type.
Haha yea makes sense , trying to get a good balance between skinning , and throwingForget the "dogs" and get some "Clod Steal" (Cold Steel ) 3V and throw 'em all you want !

Makes senseBuy a throwing knife, don't throw a cutting knife.
It's like saying a BMW 325 is really bad at offroading and the springs broke.
I would have thought 35vn steel would be a bit tougher than what performedBuy a throwing knife, don't throw a cutting knife.

LOLWill SOG ever make knives out of 3v steel ?
Need to petition them cuz I think they had some real quality designed from SOG through the yearsLOL
Well, they have been using AUS-8 on their best designs since I was in high school, so good luck with that.
