Will there ever be a Delica 5?

I don't know about anyone else but I would love to have a Delica with g-10 scales, finger choil and slightly thicker blade. As for blade steel I am not too fussy. What do you guys think, would it appeal to you?

Yeah I agree with the above posters the Caly 3 is excellent and has a nice choil for choking up on the blade.

The delica is one model I don't think needs a choil. I wouldn't buy one if they change it. Ever check out a stretch?

I had a G-10 "Standard" in ATS-55 back in the day (15+ years ago) and, while I liked it, I eventually began to prefer the FRN (mainly for weight - the Standard had full steel liners and was very heavy compared to the Delica of the day):

Here it is with some old-school Delicas (plastic-clip versions, circa mid-1990's) for size comparison - as you can see the Standard was just a bit shorter than the Delicas, had a smaller hole, and had a slightly different blade geometry:

I carried the Standard for many years, until the current Delica 4 clip design became available (was NOT a fan of the plastic clips!), then I switched to the FRN. I have to say, though, I'd still be interested in seeing FFG Delicas and Enduras in G-10 as a regular offering from Eric and Sal. I think they would be good sellers.

While I don't think the Delica needs a choil,, I wouldn't mind the blade being lengthened a bit to fill the existing handle.

To me that looks absolutely awesome :D

the only reason I mentioned a choil was that if you look at the knife it almost has one already, you wouldn't have to modify the blade and the scale molds all that much.

As for the weight, I'm sure it wouldn't be all that different. If the G-10 scales were milled out like they do on the PM2 and the steel liners were put inside.

I do like the Caly 3 but here where I live they are just so expensive +$200 (more than $225 for the Caly 3.5), heck I paid about $105 for my Delica and that was the cheapest price I could find here in Europe. If Spyderco could make a G-10 Delica I would be prepared to pay a little more for it. I like the size, blade shape and blade material of the Delica 4 and for everyday use the FRN stands up to the challenge of daily tasks, I just think it looks pretty cool with G-10 also and I would love to own one.

Anyway if Spyderco did decide to make a Delica V, what type of blade steel would you guys like, stick with the vg-10 or something else?

The Delica 1 lasted 8 years, the Delica 3 about the same, and the Delica 4 has now been out for almost that long. That leads me to believe there will be a Delica 5. However, when we'll see it and what changes it will incorporate are a mystery to me, although I somewhat doubt it will incorporate a 50/50 choil. Mostly because, while it's a feature loved by "afis", it still doesn't seem to have caught on with "Joe Average User" demographic that has kept the Delica in the lineup for nearly 25 years.

I'd like the tip to be pointy again.
And +1 on wire clip

Agree 100%. Deep carry wire pocket clip would be awesome, I only had my Delica 4 for 6 months and I hate how all the black paint has been scratched just from ordinary pocket carry.

So let's just recap what we all agree on how a Delica 5 should look.

1. G-10 scales
2. Deep carry wire pocket clip
3. pointed tip (no rounding)
4. FFG VG-10 Blade

It seems like the question now is "to finger choil or not to finger choil".

This has already been said, but really you're asking for something that pretty much already exists. Why would spyderco go through the trouble of creating a knife so close to something they already make and call it something different?

A wire clip would be good but that would be the only thing that I would change. A special run of g10 handles would be cool.

I must be in the minority, but I *really* dislike wire clips. I don't mind the black finish wearing on the standard clips, which I find are more comfortable during use.

Jim

Wire clip would be nice, nothing to change beyond that, it's a Delica for crying out loud.

Id get G10 versions also but the Delica/Endura will always have a Polymer version (FRN, FRCP) as well it should.

I would like a choil and a pointed tip out of the box also.
