Will there ever be a larger buck/mayo

Frankly, I would love it if (whatever size you choose) the knife was able to be field stripped for cleaning and lubing. Bronze washers would be a huge bonus for me:D

If you have a torx wrench, the Buck Mayo is quite simple to strip and rebuild. I have had mine apart many times but decided to changed the slab shape too. Even the custom Mayos use nylon so the bronze (Unless Tom changed recently) is no big deal for me. I'd just like to see it out. Hole pattern is not that important but the lightning (Or the curved/hurricane variation of it) pattern seems to be classic Tom so that would be nice to see. Those things are secondary for me . . . just make it!:D ;) :D
Yeah Tom, CJ saying "Make it happen!" probably carries alot of weight!;)

Hey Jason,
Have you had your back surgery yet? Are you on the mend? Hope things are well......

But getting back to the "wish" knife: I have had my Buck/Mayo apart a couple of times. For me it would be easier if it were constructed more like a Sebenza--less screws. I've managed to drop one of the pivot bolts on my basement floor one of the times--lost forever to the underground. I called Buck for a replacement bolt and they gave me the third degree for taking my knife apart. They refused to sell me a bolt. They demanded that I send it back for service. Bah humbug to them. I've had my Sebenzas apart a MILLION TIMES. To me, the Sebenza is a much easier knife to work on. I did get a replacement bolt at a local hardware store. The head design isn't exactly like a Buck, but it works just fine.

In the mean time, I'll patiently wait on the new model.

I am with Tom M. on this one all the way. I don't see any responses from the Buck folks but I am guessing you all are focusing on the upcoming big move. I really do think you should make this knife. I know I am not alone.

Regards,

Tom Carey

Barry, thanks for askin man!:D I finally went under the knife last week! Had an "anterior lumbar fusion" using titanium cages (non-anodized):( ;) and am now stuck at home for a few weeks while it mends then on "restricted activity" while the "bone morphogenic protein" they used causes the vertebrae to grow together.
I think it is gonna work great and sure appreciate all the thoughts and prayers of forumites. (Still not sure if I'll be cleared to go back to Nicaragua and play missionary though.)
Back to knife content
I agree that the benza is easier to get into. Buck is not used to people wanting to strip their blades and I got a little bit of runaround when I had a damgaged screw head on one of the clip screws. They at first asked that I send it in but it got bumped up the ladder and I got an email saying that they would send me the screw and a few days later I got THREE new screws for free. I think buck was being nice to a missionary. (They are great that way!!)
SO, I have to have a small bowl to put all the screws in when I take apart my mayo AND I gotta have my TORX set from Home depot BUT I doubt any prodo companies are going to get friendly to home repair any time soon SO I'll just wait for bigger but probably not easier to strip.
LET THERE BE LARGE BUCK/MAYO!!:D :D :D

I need to see if I can talk the marketing folks into reading this thread! I finally got one of the 172's for myself, (it was a birthday present from my father in law). Now I need, i mean want, the one described in this thread!

I would definatly be in for a larger model!!!! Come on CJ, lets get the Pre-Orders going:D

The Buck Mayo is on the short list of knives I want soon. I handled one a while back and was WAYYYY impressed.

Got to have one...

I would buy any Mayo design knife Buck cared to make!

I haven't seen Tom Mayo design a bad knife yet, so I'm in on any Buck/Mayo knife they Produce!

A big one would be nice though!(Can you say production Dr. Death) :D

Thanks Boonhtan for BTTT'ing this thread. I'd never have seen it, otherwise.

Bigger Mayo Please!
