Will this ever be?!?!?!?!spyderbenza

I don't like it... id rather just get a sebenza. spyderco comes out with some pretty original designs I dont think they would come out with something like that...at least i hope not

That's Dialex's artwork. He was just playing around, I think. It would have to be seriously re-worked to make it a viable design, IMO.

BTW, I don't know if you or someone else has that on imageshack, but it should probably not be there.

i didn't put it on imageshack, i just hijacked this thread from the sebenza forum....the only thing that is really like a sebenza is the all metal handle.....all else is more spyderco design....didn't dialex design the adventura?

he's the man ;)

While it won't be too similar, look for the Sage model to come in a Frame lock variation sometime down the road.
The idea of the Sage is to make one model that features different lock mechanisms that have been used over the years, and I expect Chris Reeve will be high on the list.

hmmmm....i like this idea.... a knife the size of a delica made of carbon fiber with a ball lock....sweet

I think the spyderbenza is a really badass design. I'd buy one if I could afford it.

If a Spyderbenza really did come out, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Spyderco is my favorite knife company and the Sebenza is one of my favorite knives. I love the compression lock.

The Spyderbenza would be the be-all end-all of EDC knives and no Spyderco fan would be caught without one!

The Sebenza is an awesome knife, but its ergos are not nearly as good as the average spydie. I love the idea, but certainly hope it will be a true collaboration and not a model in which one party brings the knife and the other the handle.

Guess I'm not a true Spyderco fan then, since I'd pass on it. If I had to pick a "be all end all" it would be a pimped up version of the Stretch.

i have to agree

I think it would be cool, but have to wonder if there is really enough of a market. Why didn't the ATR do better? I think one reason is it was somewhat above what spyderco fans were willing to pay.

The wilkens collaboration is a step in that direction.

Not overly interested. While the fit and finish of the Sebenza is certainly peerless in the production knife category and well worth the price, I find the handle to be far from perfect. Many Spyderco knives beat the Sebenza in that regard IMO.

Asssuming for a moment that such a collaboration might exist one day, using anything other than Chris' integral bar lock would be absolutely inappropriate.

I'd never even consider such a thing without the lock that defines the Sebenza, and certainly not with the never-quite-right (in my experiences) compression lock.

I love both manufacturers, but this seems like a forced fit that, while fun to speculate about, would never really be that good of an idea.

The "ultimate" EDC? Uh, no. In the case, the whole would be much less than the sum of it's parts.

Better to take a bog standard Sebenza and get Chris to make a blade for it that can accomodate the Spydie hole. Now you've got something...

Yeah, with peel-ply carbon fiber scales, a D4/E4 clip, and a solid blade of a high-hardness stainless steel like Cowry-X or ZDP-189.

If one of those was made, it'd be the ultimate!

IMO, that is a gorgeous knife with a lot of potential. I loved my Sebenza Classic and only sold it once I had a TNT that filled the same role.

Then again, I also love the compression lock for exactly the same reason others dislike it. Namely, while it is very strong, it is also somewhat difficult to disengage. In a knife I am using I care about a strong lock. On the other hand I cannot think of a time where I have needed to get the knife closed extremely quickly. On the positive, the compression lock is very hard to accidentally disengage, IMO.

I'd rather just see another spyderco integral complock ala ATR, but in a more refined, sheaple friendly package. Something with a centofante III blade, a slim handle, but with something to prevent your fingers from slipping onto the blade. Now that would be a nice edc.

Titamium Salsa uses the integral compression lock and is pretty sheeple freindly. Not at all what you described otherwise, but it fits that first part.
