I have a chance to buy this machine for around $300. The owner says there is about 3/4" of pressure foot lift. It will need to sew 2 layers of 7/8 oz plus 1 layer of 4/5. Help please.
Maybe? Knowing the presser foot lift frequently won't tell you all that much about how thick the machine can sew. Is it local enough that you can test it? If not, can you mail the owner of the machine some scraps for them to try sewing? If there's a rush to buy it, the question might be easier for someone to answer here if you could post the brand and model # of the machine
That machine appears to be an old Singer patcher and will not sew a half inch of leather so is useless for sheaths or holsters. If you do inlays it might be of use there.
