they have it at the local lumber yard/hardware store. its for dust and its about $25 and they have the replacement filters for about $13.

Don't use it for working with dymondwood, if you were going to. I never saw one in town that was rated for formaldehyde.

im mostly going to use it with micarta, wood, and some axis antlers i chopped off of a dead axis buck on the side of the road.

well,,,,I do know that such a mask is better than mine....

If in doubt, open the doors, turn on a few fans and suck the stuff right out the door

my shop is outdoors. its open in every direction except past the floor. but i still want to have the dust mask. good thing about working outdoors like taht is i dont have to sweep the shop. just pick up the scraps of steel. HEHEHEHE

well i do plan to have it indoors once i get the money to build a shop. im going to make it 750sq feet and say its a home. even going to have a bathroom in there with a utility sink. my uncle is going to ahve fun wiring all the outlets.

Yes, I mean if you are outside ,, and it's only Macarta and wood,,,Then that looks like a great mask.

Now you do understand that wearing a mask becomes a bit pointless if you stop every once in a while to have a smoke right?....LOL

yes that will work. Here in my shop I have dust collecting systems installed on all my grinders and have a Jet system overhead as well, they units collect about 99 percent of the steel particles in the air. And it saves me time on cleanup. About once a week I drag out the air holes and blow the shop out. ---------------

if im working i dont think about cigs. well not much. and if i were to smoke i would make sure im away from everything. does it help that my forge is about 10-15" from my work table? and it doesnt face the work table tho. HEHEHE!!!!

OK,,,here is my story...
We were using an air sprayer to paint a building.
Because it blows paint dust both I and my co-worker were both wearing good breath masks.

I went around the corner for a moment .
I came back and now saw that my co-worker had taken his knife and cut a round small hole in his mask so that he could smoke with it on.....

I looked at him,,,,,It all just seemed a bit pointless...funny, but pointless.

ya i read about that on another thread. it was funny. too bad you didnt get a pic of it so we could put it in a knife making safety tutorial on what not to do.

I know that 3M makes some resperators that are not too terribly expensive and the filters are reasonable also....I believe that with femaldahyde you would need an organic vapour cartridge which 3M also makes. Hope that help some.

i live in a small town, BIGBEAR, and that is about the only one i can find. im not going to spend alot of money and order one or drive 50+ miles to get one when i can buy that one about 12 miles from my house. not to mention its less expensive than the 3M one.

I just ordered the 3m one that cost around $25 from cooper safety supply. It wasn't the cheapest mask, but it breathes very easily. It doesn't have that "Darth Vader" (Fffffff...kaaaaah...) breathing thing going on. It just feels like your naturaly breathing.

How well does the mask seal around those whiskers? I just shaved my beard off the other day- (1 1/2 months worth of growth) and found that I wasn't blowing black gritty boogers after grinding with my mask on. If you are jsut hand sanding or filing micarta, I would still wear a mask and have a fan blowing that stuff off of you. Take care.

i dont have it yet. when i do get it im shaving everything but the gotee and mustache cause i know they will be inside the mask. i have to have my facial hair so taht i dont look 16.
