Will this motor work for a slow speed grinder?

I have been eyeing slow speed grinders for sharpening lathe tools and some knives. I just wanted to ask for those here who know, if this motor I found on 'the Bay' would work. I realize I would need to get some type of arbor/washer/nut rigged to hold the wheels to the shafts, but I just wanted folks opinion of this as a doable thing with this motor,

It's single phase, so if you had VFD control in mind, it won't do that.

it's single phase, but has no start capacitor and a handful of wires coming out of it.
It's possible it came out of machinery where the cap was part of a control panel

It's not rated for continuous use, it's "15 minutes"

I'd skip that at any price.
If I got it for free, I'd toss it in the $.10/pound pile.

It is also a very low HP rating the current draw is 1 amp. I would use a 3Ph motor in the 1/3-1/2HP range with a small and cheap VFD.

You can control the speed using the pulley size... 3 phase power is not available in a residential areas
You are probably limited to 110/220 Single phase, in the 1700rpm range.

Thanks for the intel guys--I would like to get a motor and use a VFD as Stacy suggested--I'll keep looking

In case Stacy doesn't return to the thread, 3 phase motors are used on 110v 1 phase with a VFD as variable speed power sources. Doesn't need actual line 3 phase power from the utility, the VFD provides the correct power for the motor.
This used to be difficult and expensive, now it's not.
