Will this reduce value?

I have acquired a new Buck Strider Spearpoint, serial number 001 of 500, first production run, in BG42. Will I reduce its value by using it or carrying it in my pocket?
I mean, it is serial number one. will using it make it worth less than in NIB condition?

I am afraid to use it for this reason.

Thanks,

Steve,
More than likely all the serial numbered knives are marked 001 of 500. This is usually the case.

As far as using it....my thoughts are this:
1. Will you not enjoy your knife as much if you do not use it? If you won't use it.
2. Is this a users knife or a collectors knife? I mean...this knife by design was made to be used so my thoughts are....use it.
3. If you accidentally drop it on your driveway right now, it will get a ding, it will be painful, but only for a minute...this way you won't have a mint knife any longer and won't be afraid to use it. So I say use it.

See where I am going?

Seriously, I doubt you can enjoy a BG42 blade without using it....go ahead, you won't be sorry.

Oh yeah...I guess if the knife is not mint it does loss some of its collectors value, but who cares?

USE IT!

It sounds like you got lucky. Check out the post Buck Strider Tanto - it actually looks like you got the first one.

Steve,
If you actually have serial number 001....and they were individually marked then in this case, I would not use it.

Were these spearpoints individually numbered guys? If so Steve is exceedingly lucky.

They are individually numbered and it IS number 001.

I think I will pass on using it.

Thanks guys.
